Bio

Allie Gonino was born in Ft. Worth, and grew up near Dallas, where she sang and played country music until radio turned its back on her musical heroines, The Dixie Chicks. Inspired by the Chicks from an early age, Allie began violin lessons at the age of seven. When she turned sixteen, she made the move to Los Angeles with her mom to pursue a career in music and acting. The first few years in Los Angeles, she wrote and performed in a 5 piece girl group called The Stunners. The group released four singles, an EP, were signed to Columbia Records, and then Universal Republic. They toured the U.S. as the opening act for Justin Bieber in 2010, but the group disbanded in December when Allie booked a series regular role on the ABC Family original series, 'The Lying Game'. Before the last minute move to Austin to film the series, Gonino and fellow musicians, Andy Fischer-Price and Adam Brooks, formed a folk trio called The Good Mad. When the creator of 'The Lying Game' offered to write Allie's character a music storyline, Gonino solicited the help of her bandmates, and together, The Good Mad made several appearances on the show as alter-ego band, Strangeworthy. They released three EPs, wrote and recorded with songwriting powerhouse, Linda Perry, and have licensed songs to several films and television shows.

Gonino released her debut solo EP, "Hollywood High", in 2015, and has since been writing and recording music for her forthcoming album, with co-producers Aaron Dudley and Adam Smeaton. "I'm calling the genre of the new album, "Texicali". It blends my Texan roots with the inspirations I've grown to love since living in Southern California over the last thirteen years", says Allie. Two singles from the album, "Stillness" and "Deserted", have already been released on iTunes and Tidal. Allie also wrote, produced, and co-directed a music video for "Deserted", which tells the story of Lupita and Jose, a middle-aged couple struggling to stay alive in the desert after the loss of their son, Manny, who died in the Iraq War. "I could have gone the easy route, making songs that make people dance, but I didn't feel that would really push the needle or direct people's attention to things that matter to me. Music and art are the best agents for change, and as much as I love easy listening pop music, it's equally important, if not more important to me to use my gifts and my platform to lift the voices of those who have no voice in society. So while I made sure to include some fun songs on the new album, be prepared to be taken to some deep and dark places. I want to make you think." An official release date for the LP has not been set yet, though she's projecting a 2020 release.
