ALLOTROPE - Bio

Growing out of a rock band class that started 6 years ago (called 'Out of the Blue'), it soon became evident to their teacher: Dundas Composer/Performer Mark Daum, that these young guys shared a keen interest in all kinds of music, getting better as musicians, and an abundance of raw talent.

It also became evident as time went on, and after playing many different venues, including festivals, charity events, small concerts, corporate events, and the occasional club (despite being barely in high school), that these guys also had an unusual chemistry as players and people, despite the fact that they all had, and continue to have a wide palette of diverse musical interests.

This unusual chemistry kept showing it's face, when in the middle of 2010 the core group of Jackson Dorie (guitars), Adam Gorka (guitars), and Pat Brown (drums), added a new bass player: Christian Gould, and he fit like a glove.
Eight months later they acquired a lead singer in Christian's older brother: James Gould, and a keyboardist: Andy Song, and once again it instantly seemed to be a tailored fit.

It was at this point, after seeing this kind of chemistry at work, and recognizing it as something unusual and rare, that Mark recently decided to put his producer hat on and work with them in a different capacity.
Since then, the band has begun writing some excellent originals, continue to evolve as a dynamic live act, and have recently changed their name to: 'Allotrope', which they feel better reflects what their about.

Recently, after only being a full band for about 8 months, they made it to the final round of the 2011 Hamilton Music Awards Rising Star competition, and made their presence known to everyone in attendance at the McIntyre Theatre. They also got to rub shoulders with many of the stars that came out for the event.

Not long after this, Allotrope began working with Mark and his company: 'The Centre for Creative Research', on music for their first album.

They started recording at Jukasa Studio in late April, and it's sounding great. The 4 song EP is being produced by Mark and renowned Engineer / Producer Nick Blagona.

The guys will be finishing up the mixing and mastering portion very soon, and a CD Release Party will be taking place at Splitsville in Hamilton on June 29th, 2012.
