"AllStarCharge review by Lana Winter (Spill Magazine)"

ASC (All Star Charge)
Neutral Lounge
Thursday, June 12th, 10:00 pm

Neutral was definitely not the right venue to showcase this incredibly talented, up-and-coming band from Dublin. Despite the venue, the band poured their hearts out to the crowd and were received with hollering applause and enthusiasm. This is one hell of an amazing band. It's inconceivable that a band this good could not become more well known. Naoise Morzadec is a brilliant bass player, full of energy and just all around fun, while drummer Andy Kelly gives every song a perfect beat and pushes the crowd to dance. Singer Mark Healy is a wicked guitarist and powerful vocalist with a great range. The songs he sings not only have intelligent, well written lyrics, but have a vibe to them that can really get a crowd going.

It's a shame that the mixing at Neutral was such that one couldn't make out the guitar clearly – there were comments made by someone in the crowd about what a great guitar it was and how it was capable of far richer tones than we were able to hear Thursday night. However fans will have the opportunity to enjoy ASC over a better sound system at the NXNE closing party at the El Mocambo on Sunday night. ASC are fantastic band that should not be missed, if you have the opportunity to see them, do so.

Bio

AllStarCharge are a three piece alternative rock band made up of Andrew Kelly on drums, Mark Healy on guitar and vocals, and Naoise Morzadec on bass.

ASC began their live career with the HWCH festival in October 2006, where they "were entertaining an impressively large crowd…frontman Mark certainly has the voice to hold their interest…" (Shilpa Ganatra – Hotpress 1st November 2006)

2007 saw the band graduate to headline shows. They played the renowned live music venues Whelan's in March, Craw Daddy in April and The Village in June.

ASC travelled to Toronto, Canada in June 2007. They played two headline shows in the legendary venue “El Mocambo” and also played “The Reverb”. Matt Reeder (Chart Attack, Toronto) wrote:

"With a basic guitar, bass and drums format, the band fit solidly in the books as a bona fide power trio...From Healy's soaring, melodic vocals and reverb-drenched guitar to the drummer's solid fills and the bassist's propulsive playing, the trio made sure no sonic space was left unfilled".

ASC returned to Dublin and began recording their debut album. In June 2008 they returned to Toronto for the North By Northeast (NXNE) festival. The band played seven shows in total, including a NXNE promotional show at Pearson International Airport, along with their official NXNE showcase in The Neutral Lounge. The band also made a return to the stage at El Mocambo for the NXNE wrap party. Reviewing the showcase at The Neutral Lounge, Lana Winter (Spill Magazine, Toronto) wrote:
