Biography

Born and raised in Vancouver, B.C. Alonzo’s music touches on his relationship with the environment, life and love, and more importantly how these emotions, along with a thousand others, have shaped his own experiences. At a young age Alonzo taught himself to play the guitar through the influence of Clapton, Hendrix and Bob Marley. But it was not until his late teenage years when Alonzo met his musical crossroads – a result of the 3 years he spent living in an old villa in the south of Chile. This experience would not only acquaint him with his Latin American heritage but would also provide the opportunity to search deeply into his musical roots.

Alonzo began to develop his extraordinary musicianship along with a charismatic sense of style. The result was an incredible performer capable of relating to the tastes and emotions of many generations worldwide.

In the last year and a half Alonzo has began song-writing for other projects. Up until September of 2005 he had only written songs for himself. This quickly changed, as within a couple of months, he found himself responsible for both singles released by Canadian Idol winner, Melissa O'Neil. He was also fortunate to place 2 songs on runner-up Rex Goudie's Platinum album. The success continued and his consistency has been shown by co-writing the first hit single for 2006's Canadian Idol winner, Eva Avila ('I Owe It All To You').

This song-writing success has proven Alonzo's skill as a writer. As he returns to the studio to begin recording his debut CD with world-class producers one is sure to see this success repeated via his own career as a remarkable artist.
