The best kept secret in music

"Aloonaluna- Fall Like Leaves (video)"

Latest video from the beautiful Aloonaluna, directed by Rachel Evans - Gruff Trade

"Aloonaluna: Fall Like Leaves"

Deeply enchanting, anxious and frail outré pop offerings by Aloonaluna, the solo guise of California via Gainesville, Florida’s Lynn Fister. With its shuffling rhythm and distant whistling, “Fall Like Leaves” initially appears to showcase some optimism, but once Fister’s slightly distorted voice sets in, hidden behind a thick veil of reverberated haze, the light fades away until eventually all remaining confidence evaporates in a final synthesized sigh. Watch Rachel Evans‘ marvelous visualization of the highlight track of Aloonaluna’s latest effort Bunny below, assembled with scenes from the 1971 film Social Seminar: Bunny.

Bunny is out now on Hooker Vision. Order the cassette here. - No Fear of Pop

Aloonaluna is Lynn Fister's recording project. Lynn started doing solo recordings in 2008 in Panacea, Florida and Tallahassee, Florida, integrating found sound samples with acoustic instruments. Soon Lynn started collaborating with singer-songwriter harp player Caitlin Dunn, french bassist and guitar player Thierry Penduff, multi-instrumentalist William Chase and percussionist Robbie Goethe. Together, under the same moniker, these band members recorded a split 7in with fellow Tallahassee band Starry Crowns late 2009. A double-disc self-titled album followed suit in late 2010. These albums make use of field recordings, Wurlitzer organ, fuzzed out bass, keyboards, out-of-tune grand upright from Outz, harp, guitars, drums, drum machines, accordion, banjos, water, bowls..... et cetera... Both Christopher Fleeger and Jacklyn Attaway contribute to these albums as well.

Lynn now resides in San Francisco, California, and Aloonaluna is currently a solo project. Bunny, a cassette released by Hooker Vision early 2012, marks the first solo Aloonaluna release.

A second Hooker Vision release is set for the end of May 2012. This album is entitled Diadem or Halo?
