Alphabetics

Dance punk, and frenetic live performances. If in need for a good party, try to check out Alphabetics’ live set. - REMEZCLA Music (NY,LA, MIA)

- Escena Indie (Colombia)

Alphabetics may hail from San Jose, Costa Rica, but their music sends out a clear call to action in a universal language: just dance. And believe us, you’re not going to be able to stop yourself.

The technical definition of alphabetics is “the science of representing spoken sounds by letters,” so picture this: giant, bold letters pouring out of your speakers headed straight for your ears. That’s what Alphabetics’s music is like; it’s loud, it’s in your face, and it’s awesome.

The group describes themselves as a “five-piece punk band with lots of energy, chaos, and dance hall beats.” Quite frankly, we can’t define them better ourselves. On their song “Frutista,” you’ll hear a major dose of their up-tempo, high-energy sound. It’s infectious, compelling, and really catchy.

As the chorus drops with the repeated punch of “never gonna make it alone,” resign yourself to the fact that this line will stay in your head for days to come. Be happy about this; the song brings nothing but good vibes, embrace it! We did.

And if you’re looking to further your knowledge on Alphabetics, watch this video closely. We weren’t sure exactly what to make of it. Is it just plain weird? Super genius? Both? One thing is for certain: it is definitely creative. - The Hygenic

Alphabetics have become pure ‘dynamite’’ in the ongoing Costa Rican alternative current. They are driven by the idea of exploring new sonic territories as well as creating something fun that could entice the urge to dance. The “Indie Dance Punk” quartet is a mix of euphoric dynamic guitars, electronic sequences and explosive drums. These elements merge into perfect synchrony in their live performance.

The release of their debut material Self-Destructive (2012) placed them right under the spotlight. Since then, they have had a great deal of recognition and have played many festivals. Currently, the band is working on finishing their anticipated new album that promises to be more energetic, danceable and daring than its predecessor. With upcoming new projects and international gigs to be announced, this prom is just getting started. - NEW HISPANIC MUSIC (L.A., UK, SPAIN, MEXICO)

- 89decibeles.com

BIO:
ALPHABETICS is an Indie dance-punk/rock band from San Jose, Costa Rica.

Hailing from 2012, the style of music is influenced by many different trends, making it tough to place them in one specific musical genre. The result is an awesome musical mix of alternative dance rock, with Latin beats to get a crowd moving as they feed off the incredible energy of the band.

This compilation of talent has captured the attention of many fans, not to mention media, in a very short space of time. On March 8th, 2012 they released their debuting 5 track EP by the name of "Self-destructive", as well as their Video Clip "Frutista" which becomes the first piece of audio and visual material to share on radio stations, television, online video channels and social media. The response has been gratifying in countless ways, meeting and surpassing expectations with local radio (Frutista reached #1 on the Hit Parade from 104.7 FM), video air time on MTV Latin America as well as MTV Hits, 3 different TV commercials, 1 international movie, to name a few accomplishments with this single.

The band's second single "Another Mistake - Bistek" was also well received, as it was featured as the theme song for TV shows, Digital Sports Campaigns, Radio air time, Digital Billboards on the road, and several more kinds of commercial opportunities.

Alphabetics has enjoyed a very promising start to their career. The band has lined up for Festivals such as CMF (Canadian Music Festival), Red Gorilla (Austin, TX), Holi One Color Festival, Transitarte, SW!CH, Festival Imperial, Rock Fest, LEAF Music Festival, Claro Music Festival, Circulart Music Conference (Medellin, Colombia)  to name a few, sharing their name with a large amount of major worldwide artists.

Upcoming for them is a tour in California for Culture Collide (San Francisco & Los Angeles) during the month of October, 2014.

Alphabetics is currently playing shows all over the country, ready to release their second album in just a few months.
