Bio

Alpha Noise is the collected force of lyricist/producer KEL, lyricist Jay Qwest, and DJ/producer Scizzahandz. They combine jazzy beats with personal and intelligent lyrics and a live show that never leaves the crowd bored, and have since become one of the most-talked about and exciting acts coming out of the independent Atlanta hip-hop scene.

Meeting through mutual friends at Georgia State University in 1999, KEL and Jay Qwest had an immediate connection musically and brought out a creative side in each other. For several years the two stayed in contact but didn't initially form a group. During that time, KEL continued to participate in open mic battles and create a name for himself while Jay Qwest went on to finish college and continue to write music on the side.

Meanwhile, Scizzahandz was making his turntable abilities well-known by playing with the likes of DJ Lord from Public Enemy and becoming a staple at the World Famous Mic Club hosted by Dres the Beatnik. When he met KEL during an open mic battle the mutual respect for each other was such that they forged a team. With the addition of Jay Qwest, a few months later, the three formed Alpha Noise, choosing the name because they wanted to treat this group like the beginning.

After several incredible live shows as the newly formed Alpha Noise, the group created a strong buzz with anticipation to follow in the steps of Collective Efforts, Psyche Origami, and Intellekt and Dirty Digits. All of which are groups of the former Hip-Hop label Arc the Finger Records. Unfortunately, after financial trouble the label was forced to disband and Alpha Noise was faced with making the album completely independent. Pooling together resources, and with the help of Ben Hameen, Wes Green, ONCO, and Illastrate they recorded their debut album entitled "The Forgotten". A testament to the group's independent spirit and ultimately wanting to add their voice to the larger dialogue that is Hip-Hop.

"The Forgotten", is essentially the groups re-introduction to the amnesia stricken genre of Hip-Hop. A culture that seems forget groups and their music almost as quickly as they are discovered. This album features the groups signature sound of thoughtful lyrics and dynamic flow. Jay Qwest (!st verse on "Spine Unwind") creates another layer of rhythm with his flow that adapts to each beat. KEL (3rd verse on "Spine Unwind") laces the album with clever metaphors and sharp wit. With Scizzahandz the group is well grounded in the tradition of dj cuts and scratches from the talents of this true turntablist. The album features production by KEL, DJ Sizza Hands, Illastrate, and DJ Razah.
