Feeling a bit camera shy

As a definitive staple of Seattle Hip Hop, the dynamic crew Alpha-P has been captivating and opening the minds of the masses for over a decade. Striking a pivotal balance between raw skill, stylistic diversity, and a keen sense of purpose, 1st Platoon, also known as Alpha-P is taking underground Hip Hop to the next level. With their spitfire delivery, that uniquely laces hypnotic syncopation to hard-hitting rhythmic cadences, complimented by their magnetic, melodious hooks that punctuate critically conscious, direct, and provocative lyrical content, Alpha-P is changing the game.

"The messenger is not as important as the message.”

Since its birth, Alpha-P has grown from its nine-member foundation, to a larger collective of emcees, deejays, b-boys, and other artists and visionaries. Spearheading the evolution are Seattle natives Asun and Jerm; also members of Project Mayhem and 206 Zulu – the Universal Zulu Nation Seattle Chapter. Having endured much adversity and struggle in their own coming-of-age, these veteran emcees envision music as a platform to not only entertain, but also to uplift, unify, and empower by generating “knowledge of self, cultural relevance, and artistic expression.”

Since the mid 90’s, Alpha-P members have progressed individually and as a group; in turn creating massive catalogues of independent material and releases on CD, tape, vinyl and video.

Through the years, Alpha-P has created professional partnerships with many community-based organizations and crews such as-
Project Mayhem, MAD Krew, Universal Zulu Nation, Project Blowed, 4th World, Silent Lambs Project, Black Anger, Tribal, 206-Hop, Sea-Sick, War Party Thugs, Masters of the Universe, Abyssinian Creole, Mind Movers, Battle Axe, & Black Swan Foundation

Most recently, the group has joined forces with Seattle-based multimedia and record company MADK Productions to produce what is widely considered ‘the best Alpha-P album recorded to date.’ Synonymous with an ambient, hardcore, b-boy, and revolutionary element, the record is one of the most anticipated, groundbreaking records of the year from the Northwest.

With vibrant charisma, moving stage presence, years of experience, and breadth of style, Alpha-P is emerging from the fertile belly of Seattle’s underground with a ferocity that is sure to keep your eyes glued.
