ALR

Words—it has always been about words. And as far as he can remember there’s something about them that has always resonated with ALR. From humble beginnings as someone who has had a fascination with how words sound, connect and move people, ALR recognized his passion at a very young age. So much so, that whether he read, wrote or observed the ways others communicate, then young writer, A.L. Roberts had aspirations of connecting with words to in turn utilize them to connect with others.

At first there was the written word. Captured mostly during a time to better understand his thoughts and emotions, ALR would write for hours on end about the things he experienced. However with some encouragement from his mother who realized ALR had a knack for putting his ideas together, all that time spent writing developed into him gathering the courage to speak. The words of ALR went from being captured by page to, captured by the attention of those he delivered his words to.

Not stopping there, ALR would take things a step further. Quite impressed by the progress and experience gained from spoken word poetry, ALR desired something new as well, something more. This new challenge would soon fuel his interests and passion to all new heights because not only did he find immense satisfaction in the performance of the words he thought and felt, but also discovered when writing his thoughts and sentiments to music, his intrigue was at its peak.

Now with a few years of some serious writing already under his belt, ALR calls the genre of hip-hop, home. Considered more of writer who has a syncopated and very melodic delivery, his approach to music is quite unique as it consists of a confluence of individuals in the literary world to those in music, film, fashion and even sports, made an impact. The style of ALR is in his words, and poetry with the use of rhythm and rhyme, his vehicle of choice.
