"ALSNDRA shared raw nasty trap beats and melodic top lines on “Blue Dreams”"

Rising Toronto-based artist ALSNDRA is out with a new single “Blue Dreams“. This comes after her debut track “WYWD”, which spectacularly caught the whole city unawares. Since then, the city has gone agog on her quirky, eclectic spun street sound.
“Blue Dream” is produced by up-and-coming producer Chromatik from the BVSTMODE’s stables. With its nasty trap beat, melodic top lines, ALSNDRA’s minimalist delivery and lascive vibes, the track should seduce a new audience. If you like Ciara, you should definitely check on her! - highclouds.org

"A&R FACTORY PRESENT: ALSNDRA"

As of recent years (and thanks to artists like Drake, the Weeknd and Alessia Cara to name a few,) Toronto’s music scene has become somewhat of a stage for the world to look to for rising, prominent musical talent.

Newcomer ALSNDRA (pronounced aleh-sahn-drah) proves worthy of the platform on her first and highly anticipated promotional release “WYWD” (what you wanna do) a catchy, infectious and unapologetically sexy song that easily tops the baby-makers’ playlist this year. A dangerous combination of sexy, sultry vibes and confident lyrics, ALSNDRA delivers artistry as necessary to the beat as foreplay is to sex.

ALSNDRA enlists the production talents of production duo Book & Bronze with a beat that is sure to please both mainstream r&b and mature music lovers alike.

“The music chooses you. The business of music tests you. The sacrifices you make to continue pursuing it will change you. And if you come out of it without ever making a single dollar and still smile when you wake up in the morning- you’ve made it,” says ALSNDRA. The Toronto born, Vaughan raised singer/songwriter explains: “not everybody is built to handle the ups and downs, the pressures of the industry.” ALSNDRA is not one of those people. Having began her professional career in 2010 as a top liner and vocalist for the Canadian pop/r&b girl group “QOH” (Queen of Hearts,) ALSNDRA has had her fair share of industry opportunity and experience.

In 2014, she began working closely with Toronto-bred singer/songwriter RCHNSY (Richie Hennessey,) formerly of the Juno /MMVA nominated Canadian Hip Hop group “Brassmunk.” Together, they began producing a catalogue of music that would eventually become ALSNDRA’s debut EP, entitled “My Way,”- an ode to her own personal experiences and struggles in life and throughout the creation of the project.

“The most special thing about this work is that its distinctively my story, created in my time, told my way,” ALSNDRA says when describing her catalogue and musical experience. With a sound influenced by the city in which ALSNDRA spends most of her time, ALSNDRA explores a unique perspective in the Urban/R&B and Alternative Pop genres. She has had the privilege of working with production from Toronto- bred producers like Gameboy, BVSTMODE, Agile, Pops, Book & Bronze, Tone Mason, Arthur Mcarthur, Sound smith, Driftnote and more. Additionally, New Jersey based producer Antmaestro, has also worked extensively with ALSNDRA on the debut project.

“My Way” is projected for release by early 2017, with promotional singles set for release prior. - anrfactory

"Spotlight Series: ALSNDRA"

When we met ALSNDRA in Toronto last spring we knew we would have to profile her on the Her(B) Life. Her energy and passion is clear and her vibrancy fills the room. Then we checked out her music on Soundcloud and that was it, we were all in. HOW DID YOU GET INVOLVED IN THE CANNABIS INDUSTRY?:
Image via Instagram
Image via Instagram

I am a recording artist and songwriter. Cannabis use has had a positive affect on me throughout my life and within my work practice. I tend to write and sing from very personal places within myself, so I'll often refer to my relationship with cannabis in my songs.

TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR PRODUCT OR SERVICE:
One of those songs is the "Blue Dream" record. That song was placed on a few official Spotify playlists- and that really was the start of me becoming somewhat of a public representative and public advocate for cannabis use, because of the name (after the strain, naturally) and partly because of the fact that I've always been so open to my peers and the fans about it.

WHAT TIME DOES YOUR DAY TYPICALLY START AND WHAT DOES A NORMAL DAY LOOK LIKE TO YOU?:
I'm up at around 7:30am. The first thing I always do is check-in with my manager, Lace, and then also my executive producer, Richie. They help to keep me on task and keep my energy to a streamlined focus before I do anything. If I need to manage or consider any important business, I spend about 2-4 hours a day making decisions with my team before I head to the studio - if I'm leaving - but I like the days where my home becomes the studio, and everyone just comes over and jams out in my living room. I always create the best when I'm in my own space with friends and colleagues around. Those days are fun. They don't even feel like work but so much is getting done. We'll get about 4-10 songs done every night. Even after so many years, my friends still want to come to work with me - I don't think many people can say that. That's blessed.

WHAT IS YOUR VISION FOR YOUR VOICE GOING FORWARD?:
I hope I've set everything up for this - but part of my job is making sure that I act toward having longevity in my career and influence on many many people for as long as I can. I love creating and entertaining- I was built for those things- but my purpose strongly lies in leading. I believe I can help people in positive, life-changing ways through art, and setting examples, and spreading a universal higher knowledge on a public scale. My vision for the companies would be to offer opportunities for people to learn and grow in programs and places where they can feel totally safe, free from judgement, loved, nurtured, and completely and beautifully individual. I want to develop other artists- not just music focused- but any creator- and build new platforms for them to thrive.

WHAT WOULD AN IDEAL POST PROHIBITION SOCIETY LOOK LIKE TO YOU?:
I would hope a lot more peaceful and enjoyed. Controlled- to a degree- however the power of a successful post-prohibited way of life lies in well-executed education. I find non-cannabis users are usually very uneducated about what it can do for them.

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST EXPERIENCE WITH CANNABIS LIKE?:
I didn't really experience cannabis until later on in my life. After high school. I'm glad it wasn't just something I had been peer pressured into trying. It was intimate. But that's all I remember about it.

TELL US ABOUT SOME OF THE CHALLENGES YOU FACE WORKING IN THE CANNABIS INDUSTRY:
False judgements.

WHAT ARE SOME SOLUTIONS YOU'VE FOUND?:
Spreading awareness to those people, changing perspectives.

WHAT IS ONE THING YOU WISH EVERYONE KNEW ABOUT CANNABIS?:
I wish they took the time to consider the medicinal attributes.

WHAT IS ONE THING YOU WISH EVERYONE KNEW ABOUT YOUR PRODUCT OR SERVICE?:
Just that i'm a real person who would love to connect with them.

IF YOU COULD GO BACK IN TIME AND DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN, WHAT (IF ANYTHING) WOULD YOU DO DIFFERENTLY?:
I would have started on a professional level much sooner than I did!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE WAY TO CONSUME CANNABIS?:
I'm a traditional roll kinda gal.

CONCENTRATE OR FLOWER? WHY?:
Flower because it caters to my senses more- I can touch, smell, taste, feel it.

DO YOU THINK CANNABIS LEGALIZATION WILL CHANGE THE WORLD FOR THE BETTER? WHY?:
Absolutely - it helps us draw and find connection within each other. Unification is how we grow stronger as a society. Very few people understand and practice this truth. Cannabis helps with that.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU OFFER TO ANOTHER WOMAN WHO IS LOOKING TO GET INTO THE INDUSTRY?:
You can do anything you want to. You don't need anyone to achieve your full potential. Often learning the hard way is learning the right way. I will always support you. - the Her(b) Life

"ALSNDRA Breaks down the "Thing About Love" video"

Toronto Alt-R&B ALSNDRA debuts with the vivid visible for her tune “Thing About Love Video”. The sultry-voiced artist delivers a clean, emotional-drenched monitor that really showcases her vocal model in its purest type. The love-laden monitor is mellow, surreal and serves as a late evening music accompaniment.

The visible is sort of entertaining too because it tells a narrative of two people who've fallen deeply for one another and exhibits all the assorted feelings they each undergo.

ALSNDRA has had the privilege of collaborating with the likes of Dream Machine, Kuya Productions, Tone Mason, LX, DJ Agile and lots of others whereas creating her sound. Currently, she is working underneath the path of Toronto producer/songwriter Richie Hennessey (RCHNSY – S-Roc of Brassmunk).

Imagine a world where street and pop-art culture, women’s empowerment, self-confidence and sultry vocal stylings meet female gangsterism. Now meet ALSNDRA, the female trap & b recording artist and songwriter from Toronto who made  waves in 2016 after she released her vibe-focused and canna-positive single, “Blue Dream”. The single currently boasts over 200,000 online streams, a growth that happened 100% organically after Spotify Canada featured the single on editorial playlists like “R&B right now”, “Just Vibing” and “Fresh Finds: Fire Emoji”, to name a few.

Since then, ALSNDRA has been gearing up to drop two new singles, followed by an EP, appropriately and simply titled, trAp &  B. “There’s an A-side and a B-side to the EP, explains ALSNDRA. “The A-side is reflective of the fact that I love to vibe out and have fun; it’s a lot of club feel songs crafted to make you really feel on yourself in any environment. The B-side is reflective of my vulnerability and my love for ‘90s feel-good R&B music; the type of stuff I grew up listening to.”

ALSNDRA’s vocal chops have been linked to those of Jhene Aiko and pieces that are arguably reminiscent of Janet Jackson. While her overall quirky rap delivery, and NSFW lyrical content give you a clear sense of who she really is. “My goal is to always create music that makes people feel as though they’re just hanging out with me in my living room; in their sweatpants, passing blunts and having good, honest conversations,” she says. Her skill and performance style have also been noted in the press with comparisons to other female urban powerhouses before her, “Picture Lil’ Kim, if she could also sing,” writes Digital DJ Pool.

The first single off trAp & B is, “Vibrator,” an ode to sexual liberation, independence, and in-your-face fun over an ear-satiable hip hop beat produced by multi- JUNO-award winner (Rap Album of the Year) and fellow Toronto native, Rich Kidd.
