Bio

Altavilla is a Tampa band that creates a melodic blend of folk, country and blue collar rock & roll. The band have been playing their energetic live set of earnest, unpretentious songs locally since late 2010.

Following some early personnel shuffling in late 2009, Altavilla emerged as a trio with a natural chemistry and infectious energy that belied their brief time together. After only three practices the band booked a recording session with 2010 Grammy Nominated Engineer John Keane at his landmark Athens, GA studio (R.E.M., Widespread Panic, Uncle Tupelo, etc). That furious three day session in June, 2010 produced eight diverse tracks that comprise their debut effort titled, 'Juniper', which was self-released in December, 2010.

The members of Altavilla have spent most of their lives writing and playing music.

Singer/guitarist Dan Landauer relocated to the Tampa Bay area in 2004 from his native Illinois where he was immersed in the indie scene, having toured the midwest and beyond as a member of Signsedso, among others. After relocating to Florida he focused on his songwriting under the moniker 'Green Eye' and began to create songs that reflected the music that moves him, especially Paul Westerberg, Ryan Adams, Wilco and Hum.

Wildly young at heart, singer/multi-instrumentalist Te Cool is the senior member of the band in both musical experience and time on earth. Te (pronounced like tea, not tay) relocated to the Tampa area in 2001 from Atlanta where he loomed large in the music scene in the 90's, fronting bands such as Sunspots and Urban Grind. His relocation to Tampa brought with it a new direction to his songwriting, more in the vein of his major influences - Bob Dylan, Lennon/McCartney, Ryan Adams and Jack White.

To fill out the live sound Altavilla enlisted Te's long time friend Rob Osenton to play lead guitar and pedal steel guitar. A talented singer/songwriter, Rob's a veteran of the Tampa scene and has played in bands such as Junk Yard Kings and Matt Hires.
