"Local DJ "Shoom" from New Rock 103.9 the X"

Letter from afternoon DJ “Shoom” from Dayton, Ohio’s New Rock Station, 103.9 the X FM:

Wednesday, August 18, 2004

I’ve seen Alter Ego perform several times. Each time I enjoy them more and more! Many of their songs have catchy choruses, like “Desperate Measures” which I can’t help singing along with. They are instrumentally solid with a great vocalist.
For these reasons, Alter Ego was recently chosen to open for national act Breaking Benjamin at a radio show in Dayton, OH. To know the full potential of this band all you have to do is see them live one time and you’re hooked!

"The HMD Music Resource Guide"

To whom It May Concern:

I do booking and promotions for the HMD Music Resource Guide in Dayton, Ohio. I’ve worked with and have done promotions for Alter Ego since June 2004 and have enjoyed every opportunity that I’ve had working with them and getting them the exposure that they deserve.

They’ve brought in many new fans recently, especially since opening for Hollywood Recording artists, Breaking Benjamin. They’ve brought in those fans to numerous venues in the Dayton area, such as W.O. Wrights, Katz Lounge, The Triangle, Club Stubb, Coyote’s, The Upper Deck Tavern, and McGuffy’s, which is known for bringing in big-named acts.

Alter Ego is dedicated to not only their music, but to the entire Dayton band scene. They’ve donated their time to help benefit shows, such as “Rockin’ for Rene’,” which is a benefit for a fellow Dayton musician, who lost his sister in a car accident, and they’re donating their time for a cancer benefit in Piqua, Ohio alongside four or five other bands.

What makes Alter Ego a great band is the way they respond to their fans. They are bending over backwards to make sure that their fans get involved in every aspect of their music. Rick Miesse, Mike Severs, Joe Rader, and Brian Jones are four musicians that listen to the crowd and give them what they want. By doing that, they’ve made a major fan base in Dayton that makes them one of the “Top Drawing Bands in Dayton. (the HMD Music Resource Guide; July 2004)” With originals such as “Home,” “My Last Plea,” “Tarnished,” and “Betrayed,” Alter Ego can control the crowd as well as give into their needs. After a set that was played at McGuffy’s, a new fan said, “They had me under their control after the first set. I’ve never heard a band that could hold me in the palm of their hand like they do.”

Fans in and around the Dayton area can hear them quite frequently on Joe’s Garage on 103.9 the X, a local radio station that plays bands in and around the Dayton scene. Since the show where Alter Ego opened for Breaking Benjamin, they’ve been played almost weekly.

Alter Ego is a great band with the determination that it takes to make it in the music business. Not only do they have the ability to have fun, but they have the business sense to get things done.

The HMD Music Resource Guide fully supports Alter Ego and we look forward to working with them again in the future.

Thank you,

Kelly L. Stephens

Bio

Alter Ego was formed in the early stages of 2002 when original members Rick Miesse, Joe Rader, and Brian Jones invited the final element of the band in drummer/back up vocalist Mike Severs. Deriving from such musical influences as Creed, Godsmack, Metallica, The Doors, Staind, Disturbed, and other well known acts, Alter Ego has slowly become one of the most popular acts in their respective area. Their music is diverse, moving from powerful. melodic ballads to hard driving, in your face rock. They have played with such national acts as Breaking Benjamin and have received rave reviews from Hall of Fame Record Producer Mr. Robert Metzgar, of Capitol Management in Nashville, Tennessee. They play a steady flow of shows almost on a weekly basis and have a loyal following of fans and supporters. They also have a dedicated street team that assists them in the promotion process of the band. Their ultimate goal is to have their music heard by as many ears as humanly possible and to land a record deal, allowing them to spread their message to all who will hear. The thing that sets Alter Ego apart from other bands in their area is their tremendous work ethic and drive for success. Apart from working in the studio recording their first album to be released in the late summer of 2004, Alter Ego also continues to perform live shows almost every weekend, they continue to write new music, they continue to rehearse numerous times in a week, and they are always on the promotional kick. Their stage show shows this as the fans can relate to their dedication and teamwork, not to mention gobs of fun! They look forward to taking their music on the road and marketing it to many, many cities in the future.
