"An Album You'd Leave in Your CD Player"

“There’s something incredible about “American Glory” There’s no doubt the man puts his all into each verse
Ten seconds into each song and you are convinced this is an album you’d leave in your CD player.”
-Joe Williams of The Red & Black
(University of Georgia’s daily newspaper)

"Accomplished Album, Worthy Your Timne"

“Al Torchia & The Tattered Saints out of Tampa, Florida thrash out rock anthems created by the over-driven guitars, low bottom bass, thunderous drums and growling rock sax that isn't far removed from the great Mr. Springsteen. The lyric content is also what you might expect from this type of genre, growing up in American life and the everyday struggles and triumphs getting through it. I have to say that I wasn’t expecting to enjoy this record as much as I do - American Glory is an accomplished album, worthy of your time and money if you're into this sound (which, face it, you should be).”

"Tampa Bay Times Artist spotlight"

In honor of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band's performance Saturday night at the Ford Amphitheatre, here's an artist that was definitely influenced by Springsteen: Al Torchia and the Tattered Saints.

Torchia, 27, writes and performs arena-rock screamers about life in Tampa Bay with the anthemic chords and energy of the Replacements, Bon Jovi or the Hold Steady.

"I love where I come from and where I've lived my whole life," said Torchia, who lives in St. Pete. "I really try to get that out in my songwriting. I think it's really important to have pride in where your from, and I'm just one of the lucky ones to be able to call this place home. I think it's really important to have pride in where you're from, and I'm just one of the lucky ones to be able to call this place home."

Torchia, formerly of Standing Shadows, has been mixing new material this summer, and playing steady gigs around town.

Bio:

Al Torchia & The Tattered Saints
Al Torchia's talent is undeniable, in both his songwriting and his performing. Pure American rock-n-roll best describes the sound. High power energy describes him on stage. His songs skillfully capture the sunny essence of Florida, which should come as no surprise since Al's very proud of his hometown of Tampa Bay. His songs clearly ring true of growing up in America, and the struggles and triumphs that come up along the road traveled. Al knew he needed to put together a band to achieve the big sound that he heard with his songs.
The Tattered Saints:
Tyler Medley was the first to join the band, on lead guitar. Also a Florida native, he spent time playing in Gainesville then relocated to Tampa. He's been in the band since its conception. His style of playing is the unique touch these songs call for.
Andrew Leatherman plays a mix of lead and rhythm guitar, adding warm depth to the Tattered Saints. Andrew’s musical journey started in the Tampa Bay area then led him to central Virginia for a time. The sound that he obtained throughout his travels became the perfect ingredient needed upon his return to the Sunshine State.
On bass, Brandon Myers. Born in St Petersburg Florida, he had picked up the guitar at age 7 and later switched to the bass. His style of bass playing can be described as in-the-pocket and solid. When called for, he can add intricate baselines that carry the songs. His stage presence is something that ads to the the entire live show
Behind the drums is Drae Williams. Like the rest of the band, was born and raised in Florida. His style has been crafted on his own, but taken from a wide spectrum of players. Solid playing and energetic fills create a steady metronome for the band as he serves as its backbone. He also is the mechanic of whatever vehicle the band tours in.

Al and the band released their first full length album, "American Glory" last summer (Available on CD in stores as well as on ITunes, CDBaby.com, and Amazon.com). In August of 2011, they completed their first Eastern US tour. They are currently in the studio working on their second full length record. The songs are some of the most mature Al and the band have written yet. The band has been booking and playing a full calendar of shows in order to promote their upcoming release including marquee shows opening for national artists Langhorne Slim & The Law, Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band, and played the 2012 Florida Music Festival.
