Alus

At a glimpse, you would think Alus is a genuine 1960’s singer with her red lipstick, victory rolls, and empire waistline creating a slim silhouette while using her powerful voice in Motown-esq pop music on stage. In actuality, Alus is an 19-year-old singer, songwriter, musician, and entertainer with a vintage pop style in 2013.

Born in 1994, from a suburban town in New Jersey, Alus grew up with a strong connection to music. Her musical bloodline runs deep as her grandmother, a Juilliard graduate, was once a renowned musician in the Violinaires, a group of violinists that regularly performed with Frank Sinatra’s The Rat Pack. At the tender age of four, Alus started performing on stage wowing audiences in musicals. Her training in musical theater seasoned her performances and led her to vocal training classically in opera at eleven years old with a Curtis Institute of Music instructor. Alus was placed in classical piano lessons at a young age as well. She is also a self-taught guitarist.

Alus loves to showcase her large vocal range in pop music influenced through retro soul, making for a sound she likes to call “vintage pop”. She lists influences as Billie Holiday, Judy Garland, Whitney Houston, Pat Benatar, Christina Aguilera, John Mayer, and Mariah Carey.

Alus has gone through a developmental stage with Water Music Publishing where she lost 35 pounds, developed her vocal style, and created her image. Even though Alus already had an Internet presence through her journey as an artist in development, she made a colossal impact on fans with the release of her first music video “Run”. Her music video was featured on topnotch blogs as well as created a buzz on Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube.

Because of her intensifying impact on the internet, she was invited to be the featured artist at Neiman Marcus’ Fashion's Night Out, creating a runway show based upon her vintage pop style. Alus has also graced the audience at multiple stadiums and venues performing her rendition of the National Anthem. She has sang for the pro soccer team D.C. United in their home stadium and multiple boxing matches at B.B. Kings Club and El Capitale in New York City, all of which were televised. Most recently, Alus sang the national anthem at Madison Square Garden and will be a guest judge of Celebrity Catwalk’s Couture Paws For A Cause charity event.

With her hard work and dedication, Alus is eager to show the world who she is, “I just want people to see the passion I have for music. I can’t see myself doing anything else because this is what I love. In this industry, you need to be more than talented. You need to be driven, and right now I’m in overdrive.”

This young starlit is set to embark on a long journey that she will share with the world into stardom.
