After years of working quietly behind the scenes, DC-based songwriter and producer Alvin Risk is taking to the spotlight this fall with several high-profile collaborations and his first solo EP, The Making Of. The Making Of is four songs worth of Alvin’s retro/nostalgic vocals layered over intricate rhythms and a hinderance of synthesizer. There’s a chilling quality to these songs, a low-key operatic-ness amongst the electro beats.
For many Alvin is best know for his considerable body of work as a dance music producer (formerly know as "Corrupt Souls" and "Telemetrik"). Alvin between 2003-2009 released drum & bass tracks that climbed to #1 on Beatport on such prestigious European imprints as Moving Shadow, Renegade Hardware, Subtitles, Black Sun Empire and his own Telemetrik Recordings.
Risk is currently working with club-music producers, Designer Drugs, Tittsworth and emerging DC-dance-pop darling Painted Face. He’s been featured by Pendulum on the BBC Radio One Essential Mix, and was recently signed to be the first release on electro powerhouse Designer Drugs' SEX CULT imprint. Additionally he has tracks slated for release on Ultra Records, Plant Music and Sex Cult in 2011.
