Alyson Joyce

Every now and then an artist comes along that simply stops you in your tracks. When you hear Alyson Joyce sing, you will know what I am talking about. A proud Papua New Guinean woman with a penchant for apple and rhubarb pie, AJ has achieved much during her career. Highlights include being a member of Brisbane outfit “Shye” at the tender age of 14 for Arctic Records – that had one of AJ’s tracks “So Much Better” receive local radio airplay; a stint in India with “Ebony”; becoming a member of Brisbane girl-group sensation “Honey” in 2002 and playing alongside national artists such as Vanessa Amorosi, The Little River Band, Vanetta Fields and Ricky Lee; touring Hong Kong, Australia and Borneo with “Honey”, playing Brisbane’s Riverfire Festival and opening for US R’n’B sensation “Kelis”. More recently, AJ sang on a dance track for DJ Ricardo Rae called “Where the Love Goes” which has received International acclaim and featured on the US charts - taking her to Miami to play the Winter Music Festival in 2007. She also lent her vocal talents to PNG sensation “Massive Sound System” who are currently no.1 on the PNG charts with AJ’s track “Everywhere”.
Having spent the last few years lending her remarkable vocal abilities to the work of others, AJ has finally decided to step out as a solo artist in her own right. Alyson is currently in Keytone’s Brisbane studios recording her debut album that promises to deliver some of the funkiest and exciting rnb/soul/jazz/funk to ever come from Australia. A pioneer in this genre in Australia, AJ’s debut album is certain to be well received by music lovers the world over.
