Bio
from the streets of philadelphia to the foothills of north carolina, alyssa jean's voice has rung out loud and clear. with her young heart and old soul, alyssa has turned her life of trial and triumph into song. "When i write a song, i want it to be simple and true. Everything i write is from the heart." raised amongst musicians her whole life, alyssa was exposed to everything from bach to bob dylan. Her mother began teaching her piano at the tender age of three. Her older brother, a gifted drummer, made her study his favortie records word for word, note for note. But her father, a talented guitarist and singer-songwriter, would constantly fill their home with his music. He rooted alyssa in the blues, folk, and rock and roll and later taught her how to play guitar. It is no wonder than that alyssa found her voice somewhere between the pain of the blues, the truth of folk, and the passion of rock and roll. Upon moving back to philaldelphia, after living in north carolina for much of her life, alyssa met her future bandmates. Three friends, who were also studying music, became the gypsy blue band. and the rest, as they say, is history. Dan, dahni, and winston are a force to be reckoned with. as for the music itself, it's rock n roll with a funky back beat, an irresistable groove, a catchy hook, and a touch of country twang. But with their numerous influences and unique style, the best way to know the gypsy blue band's music is to just push play.
