"This Is Our Jam"

This Is Our Jam Premieres: Alyx Knight, "Let Me In"

Hailing from Winnipeg, Alyx Knight makes sunny electro-pop just like its name would imply. "Let Me In"; the latest single from the band's eponymous EP is a mix of sunny synths with a huge chorus, which combines youthful naivete; with stadium-ready confidence (we can hear bits of both Passion Pit and The Killers floating around the mix).

The track's high-gloss sheen could in part be due to the production talents of Zach Heiligman (who has manned the boards for Foster the People) and mixing by Peter Mokran, who has worked with Snoop Dogg, Christina Aguilera, and more in the past. Whatever the case, "Let Me In" is a celebratory affair that portends good things to come for the Canadian foursome in the near future. Listen to the track below. - Refinery29.com

"Bestnewbands.com"

In 2013, four friends began to play music together on the unfinished 11th floor of Winnipeg’s Commodities and Exchange building. It was there that guitarist/vocalist Matt Worobec, keyboardist Zack Antel, bassist Jason Pankratz and drummer Luke Janzen began writing and practicing songs that would end up on their debut self-titled EP, Lost Weekend.

With Grammy nominated producer Zach Heiligman (Foster The People) at the helm, the Canadian quartet’s first offering of songs encompasses elements of New Wave and ‘90s alt with a radiant pop veneer. Today, we are excited to premiere the four-piece’s video for the EP’s latest single, “Let Me In.”

Utilizing CGI, the video tells its story through a series of pin art toys, which mold to form its characters. Though on first spin the song is a sparkly, synth-pop anthem, listen closer and hear Worobec pour his heart out with lyrics like “In my heart I know, I shouldn’t have let you go,” and “Where have we gone wrong?” This juxtaposition between music and lyrics makes the song that much more intriguing and arouses curiosity for what else the band has up its sleeve. Look out for Lost Weekend later this spring. - www.bestnewbands.com

"Purevolume Premieres Modest Mouse Cover "Float On""

Premiering exclusively here with PureVolume today is Alyx Knight's cover of Modest Mouse hit (can we call it a classic yet?) "Float On."

The Winnipeg-based electro-pop four-piece will feature the cover as an exclusive, digital-only bonus track on the band's upcoming EP.

"There's a dark comedic element to the song that we've always been attracted to, and it has a beautifully anthemic riff that has always been one of our favorite rock melodies," Alyx Knight shares with us about the cover. "It's an underrated pop song from an underrated rock band. The original has a simply, organic presence to it, which is great, but we felt we could mess with it a bit while maybe introducing some new fans to a great band and song." - www.purevolume.com

"Soft Concrete"

The electro pop band from Winnipeg, Canada, consisting of Zack Antel, Luke Janzen, Jason Pankratz, and Matt Worobec, is definitely a band you should keep your eye on. Their music has been described as 80s and 90s electro pop, indie rock, and hip hop.

Alyx Knight combines all the right instruments to produce music that is pleasing to the ears. They’ve released three songs that can be found on their upcoming EP and have included a teaser video on their YouTube page as well.

Their songs sound like the perfect summer songs, but can be listened to throughout the year. Each song can instantly put you in a great mood and make you want to stand up and start dancing around the room.

The band has been busy with rehearsal and have a couple of show dates in Canada. - Soft Concrete Magazine

"MTV Iggy"

Canada’s Alyx Knight display their playfulness in “Let Me In.” There’s nothing like a good rock-pop anthem, a rarer and rarer occurrence these days. This video is slightly reminiscent of early White Stripes vids. - MTV

"Uptown Magazine"

"Alyx Knight creates the kind of propulsive, atmospheric electro pop soundscapes that will appeal to both the club kids looking for some fun and the starry-eyed romantics looking for love on the dance floor. Keep an ear out for these guys." - Jen Zoratti Uptown Magazine - Canstar News

"Now Magazine"

"Thoughtful, danceable electro recalls 80s Brit synth-pop like Psychedelic Furs with shades of Duran Duran" - Now Magazine
