Amadou sings soulful, bluesy songs with an honest intensity, reflecting on the joys and hardships of life. Accompanying himself on guitar he sings in English, French and Wolof, the language of his homeland Senegal in West Africa. His voice has a deep, breathy tone, then soars into a plaintive falsetto that makes your heart sing.

Biography

Amadou Diagne is from Dakar, Senegal. Recently signed by World Music Network his debut solo album Introducing…Amadou Diagne was released on 27th February 2012 and went straight to no.16 in the European World Music charts. Born into a large Griot family of Sabar drummers and praise singers Amadou has been surrounded by the traditional Griot music and folk lore of West Africa from birth. He was a member of the Senegal National Band for seven years, during which time he played percussion for some of the world’s greatest musicians including Youssou N'Dour, Cesaria Evora, and Jimmy Cliff.
