"Amaha: Bella Naija Artist Red Alert"

Amaha (real name Amelia Akpotu)is nothing short of a stunning, gifted singer and certainly a breath of fresh air from all the “untz untz” churned out of the music industry everyday. Her earthy voice takes you on a journey through Jazzy landscapes of soulful hills and valleys reminiscent only of the undulations in her singing.

On “Nawa Dukiya” and “Arigato Baby”, she melds genres together so effortlessly. With tinges of Afro-Soul, Jazz, Afrobeats and a very strong African interpretation of music, Amaha delivers what she terms as “sumptuous, soulful, Afro-jazz/Pop” that is not just food for the soul but packed full with simple lyrics that are food for thought.

Her vocal texture is reminiscent of Melody Gardot or a hybrid Asa/Ayo mixture. Currently working on her mixtape, “Slack of the Say” due out in July, here are two singles off her forthcoming project “Fusillade” – “Nawa Dukiya” and “Arigato Baby”.

Enjoy! - Bella Naija

Still working on that hot first release.

Born in Nigeria, .aMAHa. relocated to Tennessee for college shortly before she turned 16. Low-key talented yet high-key shy, the Singer-Songwriter took the Corporate route while nursing her creative endeavors from talent competitions to self-funded album releases. Eventually, she dabbled in open mics and surprised others and herself with her emotive voice and unique delivery. Her music fuses complex, largely West African syncopation and multi-layered  polyphony with Jazz and Pop fluidity crafting a new, deliciously rich and sumptuous sound. Her writing is brave, poetic, and fresh.

.aMAHa.'s upcoming EP shares an intimate, introspective look at the journey towards healthy self-love. With several upcoming singles, .aMAHa. is poised to take the sonic world by storm and continue bridging the gap between African Music and modern innovation. She hopes to invite you into that private, peaceful, inner world - one of honest introspection and Joy.
