"Local Performer Steals the Show at Grand Forks Fall Fair"

There was a lot of talent on stage at the Grand Forks Fall Fair on the weekend including recording artists Stonebolt, country artist A.J. Woodworth and fiddle champ Mike Sanyshyn, but the big draw just might have been local performer Amanda Thate.
Thate performed her country songs in front of a loud, raucous crowd of family, friends and fans. The young star told the audience she was glad to be back in Grand Forks after recently moving to Vancouver to work on her career.
The fair also featured events such as the mini-chuck wagon races, gymkhana, sack races, vendors, bouncy castles and a parade through town Saturday morning. - Grand Forks Gazette

"Hot August Night"

Last week, the Coast Capital Party in the Park was cancelled due to inclement weather. So, anticipation for this week's event was doubled, and despite competition from the Chilliwack Fair and the Abbotsford Air Show, a large crowd filled the Central Community Park bowl to hear singers Emily Seal, Amanda Thate, Savannah Quinn and Angela Harris.

Award-winning artist Amanda Thate followed up with a dynamic set that even included a Bob Dylan song.

According to her website bio, in 2011, Thate won the EZ Rock radio and Kootenay Concert Connections; The Next Step Competition, earning her the opportunity to go on tour in Canada as the opening act for Country Hall-of-Famer, Roy Clark.

Thate took a moment after her set to speak with the Voice.

"I'm a country music artist," she explains. "People say I'm kind of like a mix between the Dixie Chicks and Alison Krause.

She's originally from Grand Forks and recently moved to Abbotsford, and said she just loves Party in the Park.

Thate, 19, belongs to a musical family, and some of them were at the park Friday, including her grandmother, who took the stage with a guitar and yodeled.

She has a good following in Chilliwack, as was evident at the merchandise table where a group of young girls waited for her autograph. - The Voice

Amanda took a trip to Nashville in the Spring of 2011 to work with a live music producer, Tom Jackson. Being in the country music capital was a dream-come-true to her. " It is not only a beautiful city," she says, "but a place where country music thrives." Amanda took in a show at the Grand Ole Opry. For her, the highlight of the trip was to stand at the centre stage on the famous carved circle where hundreds of legendary artists had stood.  Amanda had the honour of going to the Ryman Auditorium for a show, along with the Bluebird Cafe. She worked with Tom Jackson at S.I.R. studios where the one and only Taylor Swift had produced her live show only days before. Over the course of the trip, Amanda sang at various venues such as John A's and Nashville Nightlife Theatre, where she was accompanied by Tammy Wynette's own personal band.

Some personal things Amanda wants you to know are, "I love rainy days and Sundays, guitar picks and freshly cut grass. I like long shadows in the midst of the day and daisies are my absolute favourite flower.   I love to sing and write music and I know the best part of being a country girl is getting to wear cowboy boots, every chance I get!   I love poetry and old-English movies. I enjoy spontaneous road trips and long drives around town I love late nights, early mornings, and long laughs with Brook, my incredible sister.

What I love about country music is the opportunity to connect with people and hear their stories. Most of all, I love spending time with the One who made me and fulfilling His will for my life.
