Amanda Abizaid American Lebanese Hit TV Show Song Chanteuse best known for vocals on the theme song to Paramount's, "The 4400", Lifetime's, "Odd Girl Out", singing voice of Ally Sheedy & Charisma Carpenter on VH1's "Strange Frequency" starring Roger Daltrey singing a vocal recorded duet w/Sebastian Bach.

Biography

Singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, model and actress; these are just a few of Amanda’s many given talents.

As a model, the statuesque Abizaid has walked the runway for designers such as Jacques Fath, Nina Ricci, Zandra Rhodes, and Oscar De La Renta everywhere from Germany, Miami, New York and London.

And if you’ve never seen her modeling or acting, you’re sure to have heard her sing, even if her name does not immediately resonate with you.

As a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist – piano, guitar, and flute – Amanda is best known as the captivating vocalist on the theme song “A Place In Time” from Paramount’s The 4400, the featured song “Dreams in Ashes” from Lifetime Television’s Odd Girl Out, as well as other lead vocal appearances in songs appearing in Smallville, Ed, One Tree Hill, Felicity, and Charmed. Amanda also composed and sang movie theme songs for 3 Below, 13th Alley, and the independent short film, Facing the Lion, by writer director, Joe Plonsky, and executive producer, Scott Spiegel, in where she also stars.

Born in Beirut, Lebanon to an American mother and Lebanese father, Amanda and her four older sisters sang continuously as her instinctive musical talent emerged as naturally as her permanent smile and infectious laughter.

The influences of Western recording artists, such as Elton John, Crosby, Stills and Nash, and The Beatles combined with the abundant Middle Eastern music she heard and sang daily growing up in Beirut to create her own unique musical identity.

After the family relocated to the United States when she was 10-years old, Amanda went on to graduate from Langley High School in McLean, Virginia. She continued her studies at the Corcoran School of Art in Georgetown before transferring to the Catholic University of America where she studied drama and music.

Upon relocating to Los Angeles in the ‘90s, Amanda immediately sought out to expand her musical universe by meeting the best musicians on the scene and by performing live. Early gigs introduced Amanda to Styx drummer; Todd Sucherman and bassist Shane Soloski, the latter with whom she formed the band Blue. Other members of Blue included Alice Cooper guitarist; Eric Dover, Ricky Martin guitarist/saxaphonist/keyboardist; Ron Dziubla, John Doe drummer; Brian Head, Tom Jones bassist; Mike Mennell, and Brian Wilson vocalist; Taylor Mills.

Through her many connections with leading musicians, in the early part of the 00’s, Amanda started to receive offers to sing for several popular TV shows including VH-1’s Strange Frequency, two songs for the film, Devious Beings, working with Stephen Phillips and Tim P, the iconic composing and songwriting duo and founders of Bosshouse Music.

In 2004, Amanda would sing the theme song A Place in Time for the critically-acclaimed television series, The 4400, thereby solidifying her place as one of Hollywood’s First Call female vocalists for top television productions.

So impressive was her vocals on “A Place in Time,” Adam Buckman of the NY Post stated, “I’d like to thank Amanda Abizaid for making TV more memorable this summer,” and Paul Fleck, former Executive Director of Marketing of Paramount Pictures’ Motion Picture Group calls her “A Place In Time” performance “sheer perfection” on what he considers “one of the greatest television theme songs ever.”

In 2004, Amanda set her own musical course and released her first EP, the five track; The Great Plan Vol. 1, followed by the single CD; Lebanon, backed with Ata’s Song in 2005.

Upon hearing her single Lebanon, Micha Chahhoud from the The Lebanese Broadcast Channel International wrote Amanda, “We are honored to add your name among those personalities, so that Lebanese youth can discover people like you and their achievements in different fields.”

Amanda then released the 11-track full length CD; The Great Plan Vol. II in 2006, and the 8-track EP; This Life in 2010.

Always loyal to her musician friends and associates as her star continues to rise, Abizaid recorded This Life, infused with a sensuous and seductive Middle Eastern flair, backed by an impressive 6-piece band of seasoned Los Angeles pros consisting of, in part, Mike Mennell, Ron Dziubla, as well as trumpeter Max Vasquez, Ali Shayesteh on Saz and Bouzouki, drummer; Stuart Jean, and pianist; Dan Nissila. The single, This Life, was co-written with producer Morty Shallman.

This Life debuted on FMQB.com’s ACQB Adult Contemporary Chart at #2 Most Added on July 27, 2010, beating out Plain White Ts, Heart, and Katy Perry. The following week of August 3, This Life rated #4 Most Added record on ACQB, beating out Christina Aguilera, Lady Gaga, and Five For Fighting. In addition, This Life also scored very well on ACQB Top 200 peaking at #60 during the week of August 31, as well as #15 on Small Market AC/HOT AC Up and Coming, and #27 on Small Market AC/HOT AC Top 30 Indie Chart.

CORRUPTED

Written By: Amanda Abizaid & Morty Shallman

Every time I think of you
I write another blues to sing
I’m sittin by the telephone
Waiten for a phantom ring
Knowing it’s not you
But hoping by some miracle it’s true

Everybody says that I corrupted you
But I’m the one who tried and blindly trusted you
Every night I cry and try to comfort you
It’s funny how they can’t see the truth

Memories of you and me
Dancing on the bedroom floor
So sincerely consecrating all the promises you swore
Buy promises are lies
And I was blinded by your eyes

Everybody says that I corrupted you
But I’m the one who tried and blindly trusted you
Every night I cry and try to comfort you
It’s funny how they believe

The stories you made up about me
I feel your dead bee sting
Now you’re gone and can’t be wrong
And I get blamed for everything

Everybody says that I corrupted you
It’s funny how they can’t see the truth
Everybody says that I corrupted you
But I’m the one who tried and blindly trusted you
Every night I cry and try to comfort you
But it’s funny how they can’t see the truth
Ya, it’s funny how you can’t see the truth

UNDIVIDED

Written By: Amanda Abizaid

Woke up in bed this afternoon
I watched the clouds roll over my room
Decided to stay and dream a while
I predict that later I’ll wake before sundown

Worry doesn’t have a season
To fear a mistake is to paralyze the reason
Baby, what I really miss is you in my day
These are the times I’ve decided to live my life undivided

I push to stay up all night
I hope my mind will retrieve daylight
Insanity paves my way
Highly recommended or so they say

Laughter doesn’t have a season
Doesn’t need a reason
When you smile at me that way hey
Baby what I really miss is you in my day
These are the times
Ive decided to live my life
Ive decided to live my life
Undivided

HOW MUCH WE'RE ALIKE

Written By: Amanda Abizaid

When will it end what did we do this time
See fire in the eyes bloods on their mind this time
Alone I sit on the other side, where the day and night blends
Red orange burns the sky

Three weeks now all memories lost this time, bombs bursting in the air
Will I see my friend could I be angry enough this time, bup pa bum bum
Can we ever live by each other side
In a land where our peace of mind can jive..

I wanna hear telephone rings
Wanna see the paperboy bring me some
High 5’s yes high 5’s hey yeah
( instrumental )
Barrapapabum telephone rings, wanna see the paperboy bring me some,
High 5’s, yes high 5’s yeah
Gimme gimme high 5's yeah

Chimes drowned out by the sirens sound this time
Seems enough people died to end this fight in time
People gather round to see
How much we’re alike you and me
Nothin’s changed how much we’re alike you and me, no nothing changed now
See how much we’re alike, how much we’re alike
No nothin's changed how much we're alike, see how much we're alike…

TIMELESS

Written By: Amanda Abizaid & Shane Soloski

I could be the one who takes you by the hand
I could be the one who understands
I could be the one who never lets you go
Or I could be the one who loves you most
I know exactly how you feel
And with anticipation love will be revealed

To be timeless, timeless, timeless
There’s not enough time with you

I could be the one who takes you by surprise
Or I could be the one to open your eyes
I could be the one who never lets you down
Or I could be the one who never doubts
Won’t you let me show you how I feel
So with anticipation love will be revealed

To be timeless, timeless, timeless
(Instrumental out)

TAKE IT ON FAITH

Written By: Amanda Abizaid & Shane Soloski

Whatever it takes, I can endure
Cause I love you forever
Whatever it takes, you can be sure cause
You and me were meant forever
And I’ve always known this from the start
That I’m not that strong to make it alone

And I’ll take it on faith, you’re my baby
I swear, there’s no other beside you for the moment
Beside you for the moment
Whatever it takes, you’re my lover
I swear, I’ll never leave you
Take it on faith, you’re all I have
I’ll take it on faith

I won’t be afraid, to make a mistake
I’ll trust in my feelings
Cause nobody has emotion to waist
But you and me got what it takes
And I’ve always known this all along
Cause I’m not that strong, to make it alone

And I’ll take it on faith, you’re my baby
I swear, there’s no other beside you for the moment
Beside you for the moment
Whatever it takes, you’re my lover
I swear, I’ll never leave you
Take it on faith, you’re all I have

Don’t you know that you can depend on
My being in love with you forever more
Always
And don’t you know I’ll never deceive you
Or fall out of love and leave you forever

And I’ll take it on faith
You’re my baby I swear
There’s no other beside you for the moment
Beside you for the moment
Whatever it takes you’re my lover
I swear, I’ll never leave you
Take it on faith, you’re all I have

I’ll take it on faith…

THIS LIFE

Written By: Amanda Abizaid & Morty Shallman

Living the life of a gypsy
Dreamin of nights with you
Lyin awake, alone with my heartache
Do you feel it too
I feel so lonely without you

Payin my dues in the heartland
Too many one-night stands
All alone on the stage like blood on the page
And it’s all for you
Every song I sing is about you

This life will keep us apart
This life will tear at our hearts
But it’s alright it’s making us stronger
And it won’t be much longer
Until we’re together in this life

Drivin the 10 to the west coast
Don’t have much further to go
Been a month on the road
Next stop is home
What a site it will be
When the moon rises over the sea, yeah

This life will keep us apart
This life will tear at our hearts
But it’s alright it’s making us stronger
And it won’t be much longer
Until we’re together in this life

Next time around we’ll be livin the carousel life
Masquerade balls and a mystery waltz in the sky

This life will keep us apart
This life will tear at our hearts
But it’s alright it’s making us stronger
And it won’t be much longer
Until we’re together in
This life will keep us apart
This life will tear at our hearts
But it’s alright it’s making us stronger
And it won’t be much longer
Until we’re together in this life, in this life

MY FRIEND

Written By: Amanda Abizaid

When you’re down
And you feel like time is runnin out
Talk to me I’m here as your friend
I understand all the trouble you are in
Be honest now and let’s make amends

When you’re down and out yeah
Come to me we’ll share a bite or two
I am your friend, always your friend
Da, da, da, da, da, da, da, daaaa, da, daaaa

You know at times
It’s really hard to believe
That things will eventually work out
Like you always dreamed it would be
A star above everything else

Now’s the time to open up
And tell me exactly what’s been done
Cause you deserve a chance my friend
To turn this poison into medicine
Da, da, da, da, da, da, da, daaaa, da, daaaa
Da, da, da, da, da, da, da, daaaa, da, daaaa

Time’s are tough
But you can still call me out
Most probably I’ve heard it all before
After all I love you my friend
I would never want to shut you down

Take the ride, take the chance
I haven’t found a metaphor you yet
The world is yours always my friend
Da, da, da, da, da, da, da, daaaa, da, daaaa
Da, da, da, da, da, da, da, daaaa, da, daaaa
Da, da, da, da, da, da, da, daaaa, da, daaaa....

WASH ME

Written By: Amanda Abizaid & Joe Plonsky

Stop go no time to breath
Move too fast gotta go slow, gotta go slow
Well, times at hand no time at all
Gotta catch a train gonna have a ball
Gonna have a ball

Wash me clean, decorate me with your dream
When you wash me

Everyday just like a doll people stare and try to catch me
They try to catch me fall
And when it's time for me to leave I pay the price to be seen
Just to be seen

My skin pristine, slowly decorates your dream
When you wash me
Yeah, let them speak, who's to say what will redeem
When you wash me, wash me clean yeah

Breathing slow my mind receeds, time for new no time for old
Gotta go slow....bap, adoo pap..

Take away your things and be washed clean yeah
Let them speak, who's to say what will redeem
When you wash me, wash me clean yeah
When you wash me, wash me clean yeah
When you wash me, wash me clean yeah

BELIEVE IT

Written By: Amanda Abizaid

What would you do if the streetlights turned from orange to blue
What would you do, if our world was hollow too
When is the right time to feel it
How do you know till you believe it yeah

It's been years since I dreamt of you sad but true
Would you still stay if I told you I had run away
Can you still love me this time around
Would you be my solid ground

When do you say it's too late
When are the memories worth remembering
Tell me is this the right time and place
Or should I move on with the life I've been leading, ladadidadadada

You know it takes time to bring your heart back to mine
Somethings I can't change yea, no regrets and no one to blame
Well I think it's high time in believin yeah ooooh hooo hooo

When do you say it's too late
When are the memories worth remembering
Is this the right time and place
Or should I move on with the life I've been leading
Come on now tell me
When do you say it's too late
When are the memories worth remembering
Tell me is this the right time and place
Or should I move on with the life I've been leading, Ladadidadadada

HOW CAN I EXPLAIN

Written By: Amanda Abizaid

How can I explain when I told you everything
I understand your pain runs through my brain
If you were to think that I am on the brink
I'll wear the mask that you gave me
To look to see the world with
Make sure I don't get hurt
But that's not really me, unless I'm on a stage
To show the characters inside

How can I explain, how can I explain it
When I told you everything
How else can I explain, how can I explain it
When I told you everything

I am just a girl and I am caught up in a world
Assumed my destiny naturally
And when my phone rings I pick it up and dream
Of you and me somewhere out there
I didn't know that I'd feel this way
So please don't criticize my timing

How can I explain, how can I explain it
When I told you everything
How else can I explain, how can I explain it
When I told you everything
I told you everything...
