Bio

"Amanda is developing into an artist of extreme sensitivity" - Sam Cutler, tour manager (The Rolling Stones, The Greatful Dead, Janis Joplin) and author "You Can't Always Get What You Want- My Life With The Rolling Stones, The Greatful Dead and Other Wonderful Reprobates").

In late 2009 Amanda Medica won the Great Australian Wave Songwriting Competition, awarding her travel and entry to Berlin's famed Popcomm festival, some promotional and touring assistance and a Maton guitar.

After time spent playing live shows in Europe and South-east Asia, Amanda Medica is about to release her first official recordings. The songs are the product of a 6 month stint working as a volunteer at Londons FPMT Buddhist centre by day, and recording in the basement studio by night.

Since returning home to film the video for her song "Windows" with collaborative team "Catch The Bird Productions", Amanda is gearing up to relocate once again, this time to the US, in June 2011, where she is playing some shows and writing for the next record.

Amanda's songs echo the sounds of alternative-rock infused with dream-pop but somehow shimmer on a pedestal of their own. If you have an opportunity to experience her live shows, you can’t help but be reduced to sincere contemplation at the sound of her sweeping melodies and discerning lyrics. “I think honesty is beautiful, flaws are beautiful, freedom is beautiful, and I get a lot of inspiration from people who are brave in the sense of revealing themselves" says the Australian songstress.

She recently wrote the score for award winning writer and director Adam Cass’s play “Oasis Oasis" at Fortyfive Downstairs, and sings in indie/folk artist Carl Larsen’s acoustic band (www.myspace.com/carllarsenmusic ). Her songs are also featured in critically acclaimed director Tom McEvoy’s film “3 Days".

She has played alongside many of Australia's finest acts, including Boy and Bear, Lisa Mitchell, Scott Mellis, Mark Seymour, Angie Hart, Tom Pitts, Jess McAvoy, Matt Walters and Canadian blues veteran Jeff Martin.
