Bio

Definition: 1. A fresh breath to Hip-Hop, an escape from the norm, with smooth and clear vocals mixed with rhythmic blues and catchy hooks.

“I never claimed Gangsta, I never claimed Thug, but for some reason them ni@$as showing me love.” This is a line from Amante’s song “Prezident’s Day” and pretty much summarizes Amante and his music. Amante is a street poet who writes and speaks about the struggles of the streets. Amante is the voice of the streets -- speaking for the underdog -- which is why he is labeled Da Prez, the peoples’ Prezident.

Amante was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to an African King and Queen and moved with his family to Atlanta at the age of three. Amante and his family moved from the Southside of Atlanta to the Eastside of Atlanta to the city of Lithonia, Georgia, where Amante grew to become a man. In addition, Amante also spent a lot of his life living in different countries.

His African Heritage, life in East Atlanta, and having lived in different parts of the world have all influenced his music to make him a well-rounded artist.

Amante is a rare down south rapper; he has the lyrical ability of Nas, the swag of T.I., the smooth vocal and flow of Snoop, the heart of a lion, and a hustler’s ambition and grind. That being said, Amante is destined for greatness and it is a matter of time before he reaps the benefits from his hard work. Amante is determined, hungry, a student and a fan of Hip-Hop.

His musical influences include Al Green, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Marley, Tupac Shakur, Isley Brothers, Prince, Outkast, Tribe Called Quest, Nas, and many others.

Amante released his anticipated mixtape, Da Black House Vol. I: Inauguration of a Legend, on October 10, 2009, during BET Hip Hop Award Weekend in Atlanta, Georgia and online. The mixtape is hosted by one of the South’s hottest DJs, DJ Teknikz, of Street Executives and also DJ for Travis Porter. To date, 10,000 CDs have flooded the streets of Atlanta and Amante has had over 20,000 downloads online.

Through Redd Clayy Entertainment, Amante’s movement has already made an impact in the streets by making various appearances on mixtapes, radio, and shows. Amante Da Prez currently has the streets buzzing with his single “Hands Itchin (Head Dance)” ft. OJ Da Juiceman.

The single aired on Atlanta’s two major urban radio stations, V-103 and Hot 107.9 and other radio and online radio stations. “Hands Itchin” was also in heavy rotation at some of the hottest clubs in Atlanta and other U.S. and European cities. Since 2006, Amante distributed over 30,000 CDs in Georgia, Mississippi, and Alabama.

After a 1 year hiatus due to legal situations and getting a new perspective on life and music, Amante released his EP Da Prez Is Back Sucka Mcs, LOL on April 18th 2011. The EP is a challenge to Atlanta rappers to step up their game. To date the mixtape has 350, 000k impressions.

Amante is currently working on his new album called Southernmatic, which will be dropping in the 4th Quarter. His first single is Atl State of Mind, which is a social commentary about the city of Atlanta, Ga.

Amante has performed alongside many major recording artists such as Souljah Boy, Travis Porter, D4L, Killer Mike, Gorilla Zoe, and more.
