Faster Louder Review of The Hive show Brisbane 29th August
Current mood: tired

No one would have guessed that it was The Monster Goes Rawr ’s first show, as their stage presence and performance were something you’d see from a band that’s been around for several years. Lead vocalist Max Weins made use of the tiny space he was given to jump around, swing his microphone and not stop moving for the entire set. The set list included songs off their demo CD such as Heads I Win, Tails You Kiss Me, The Coffee Cart Gamble and I’m Better Than You On The Dance Floor. A cover of Mayday Parade’s Miserable At Best was also chucked into the mix. From the first song the energy generated by this impressive band was incredible. Drawing influences from bands like All Time Low and Forever The Sickest Kids, these guys are a band to keep an eye on. Catch them supporting 3OH!3 this October.

Melbourne locals The Invitation performed a more intense set after The Monster Goes Rawr. The vocals were really strong and clear and overall the band didn’t disappoint. Playing songs off their new EP Make Me Believe, including Disappointment, Let’s Make It Right and the highlight of the set Hearing Voices, this four-piece did everything they needed to impress the crowd.

Adelaide’s Amber Calling aren’t new to the stage and this is seen in their stage presence and ability to pull off a great set, then play just as hard at another venue down the road. After forcing the crowd to stand up before thrashing into one of their songs, the boys made the standing worth it by delivering each song with everything they had. Amber Calling treated the audience to several songs off the new EP Drive Drive, including Down & Out, Wake Up and of course Drive Drive. A unique cover of Nothing At All was also belted out and forced the crowd to sing along. Amber Calling is also another band on tonight’s bill that are definitely worth checking out! - fasterlouder.com.au

About Amber Calling

Amber Calling have decided that it's time to party and nobody is going to tell them any different. Although Adelaide's pop/rock cannonballs spent August/September doing a successful tour of the East Coast, the band have landed back in their hometown to be greeted with a support slot for Kenny Vasoli (The Starting Line) and The Ataris. Also a hectic writing schedule in the lead-up to their upcoming release. In between all of this, AC head back to Melbourne for a string of dates in October and get themselves set for more dates around Australia (to be announced soon).
Amber Calling's onstage energy is unrivalled and the unpredictability levels are sky high. With a fast paced collection of pop rock dance songs under their belt, AND PLAYING MASSIVE ACTS SUCH AS; Panic At The Disco, The Matches, The Used, Rise Against, The Getaway Plan, Grinspoon, Short Stack, Something With Numbers, Cobra Star Ship, The Academy Is, The Ataris, Closure In Moscow, just to name a few.
Amber Calling are ready to rock in a town near you. So strap on your party shoes and get amongst it.
