With electronic and hip-hop music taking over the airwaves, less and less do concert-goers experience live bands anymore. Not to knock on either genre, as I am a huge fan of both, however there is something about the raw energy and intimacy in a live band’s performance that, in my opinion, no DJ can match.
Deeply rooted in the instrumental Atlanta music scene, emerging four-piece, progressive rock/funk band Amble is the perfect example of a band you must see live. By blending elements from each of their musical roots, Amble comes together to create groove-driven, progressive funk-rock, brimming with shredding guitar leads and funk-infused basslines. After a year of playing live bills under the name Distopia, the young Atlanta rock outfit has released their first ever single “Happy Wyoming”, off of their forthcoming debut EP due out on September 27th.
With a sound reminiscent to that of P. Groove, Lotus, and Umphrey’s McGee combined, Amble has made one hell of a statement with their debut single. “Happy Wyoming” is an emotionally-fueled, up-and-down journey through 70s-inspired psychedelic rock, as powerful drums and mind-melting guitar solos carry into soulful, jazzy breaks. AMBLE is a 4-piece progressive rock/funk band from Atlanta, GA. Compositional harmony, heavy bass and danceable beats, AMBLE pushes the boundaries of genre in attempt to redefine the sound. This traveling prog/funk outfit has shared the stage with nationally and locally touring acts maintaining an expansive live sound in both the digital and acoustic world. Although AMBLE does not use any pre-recorded samples or loops, they are known for their high-energy performance that keeps the crowd moving and can be appreciated by its level of musicality. The lineup for AMBLE is dueling lead guitars, electric bass, and drum kit. This, however, doesn’t hold them back from collaborating with horn players, singers, percussionists, and keyboard players for special projects. AMBLE just released their first studio recordings as a self titled EP and are constantly evolving music on the stage. Look forward to seeing them live and they look forward to seeing you!
