Feeling a bit camera shy

Lil Dirt was born August 26th, 1982 in Gary, IN. At the age of 14, influenced by rappers such as Twista, Dr. Dre, and Nas, he recorded his first song. He took rapping so seriously, he dropped out of school to further his rap career. However, soon he realized there was more to life than music. After a few arrests and experiencing the streetlife firsthand, he went back to school and got his G.E.D. In 1999, Lil Dirt recorded his first single, "Can't Fucc with Me". With only word of Mouth as promotion, Lil Dirt sold 2000 copies. In 2001, he was the star of Ambush Records, an independent label based in Gary, IN. Headlining the company's debut release compilation, "Tha Struggle", Lil Dirt helped the album reach sales of 5,000. He recieved rave reviews from numerous independent publications. Matt Sonzala (editor of The Crusade, writer for The Source and Murder Dog) called Lil Dirt's performance on the album, "Unbelievable! The future of the industry comes from the same city as Michael Jackson." With metaphors that rival Jadakiss, creative metaphors that catch your ears, and a street presence with lyrics that mimic his life, Lil Dirt will leave a mark on hip-hop that will be remembered for years to come. Lil Dirt is currently at work on his debut album, "Tha Beast" due to be released in Spring 2006. The first single from the album, "Roll Wit Me" will be released in January 2006.
