"American Motherload"

American Motherload are a hard-edged, yet highly melodic group of transplanted Hoosiers living in Chicago proper who simply stand out from the glut of starry-eyed hopefuls which populate the city’s club scene.

Could it be their truly unique sound, their “do or die” attitude, their unbridled energy? Suffice to say, the band just has that special “IT” factor, that intangible element which makes it clear that one day success in big leagues will be theirs.

AML, as they are known to their swelling legion of fans, have already knocked ‘em dead at such prestigious venues as The Whiskey in Los Angeles, The Agora Ballroom in Cleveland and at key Chicago rooms like House of Blues, Double Door and The Metro.

They have shared stages with such national bands as Tantric, The Murderdolls and Mushroomhead, winning over the decidedly different audiences of alt-fans, metal heads and Goth kids affixed to each of those groups.

There is nothing especially trendy about AML, which is what works in their favor. Some fans find their sound a throw-back, while some find them totally fresh. Southern Indiana native Ben Loop, who sings for the group no longer worries about being “labeled” in either way.

“It really used to bother me when some people would say we were a throw back, because I honestly do not hear that in our music,” he said. “But when we were able to play our songs in front of the Murderdolls Goth fans and win them over, I stopped worrying. As long as people like the music, that’s all that matters.”

While there are notable elements of classic rock roots Loop’s gravelly voice (recalling very “Gasoline Alley”-era Rod Stewart) and selected guitar solos; there is enough modern edginess in their delivery and production to insure that AML will never fall victim to being pigeon-holed.

While the group’s music is written as a collective for the most part, all lyrics are written by Loop, who also plays acoustic guitar for the group. AML also includes members Ray Rokicki (guitar), Geoff “Gino” Jania (bass) and keyboardist Gary Kessler, all Northwest Indiana natives. Supplying the beat is newest member, Aaron Esquitin, former drummer of the Chicago band, 2 Stone City.

Their new CD “Come To Life” truly runs the gamut of styles, sporting everything from acoustic music (“Holy One”), to snarly and aggressive 94.7 Zone style (“Suckerpunch”), to a super cool classic rock re-tread of Cliff Richard’s (“Devil Woman”).

“We’ll be performing everything from the new album this Saturday at the Metro, except for the acoustic song, ‘Holy One’,” promised Loop. The group is performing second on the triple bill show, because an after show CD release party is planned for their fans. "Fans can see us for free by downloading tickets from our web site and arriving before 9pm.”

AML tunes have already been played on Chicago’s 94.7 The Zone and on Q101. Northwest Indiana’s classic rock station, XROCK, will be airing the bands take on “Devil Woman” on their soon to be debuted Sunday program, “The Night Rock Hour”.

“We’re going to start getting very aggressive at radio in the next couple of weeks,” said Loop, noting AML recently hooked up with a radio promotions firm. “The hard thing now is picking one [a single], because all
the songs are going over very well with fans at live shows and we all have our own personal favorites.”

“Come To Life” is being released on February 17th by the Indianapolis-based indie imprint, Zant Records, and was produced and mixed by Tadpole at Johnny K's Groovemaster Studio (Disturbed/Soil).

“Zant really likes our music and is really behind the band,” assured Loop. “People will find it in select stores in all major cities across the U.S.” It will also be available through various internet music retailers and the
bands website www.americanmotherload.com.” - Tom Lounges - Midwest Beat Magazine

Bio

For some blue-collar, head bangin', fist waving, hard rock, look no further than Chicago's American Motherload. Since 1999, these Windy City denizens have been blowing the roof off Chicago's most acclaimed venues, while gaining widespread respect and legions of dedicated fans across the heartland. American Motherload bleeds and sweats pure American Hard Rock with powerful anthems like "Suckerpunch," "Holy One," and "Sometimes Blind." American Motherload is the kind of band that makes you want to play your stereo loud enough to warrant police intervention.

American Motherload has released their debut full-length album, "Come To Life", on the Indianapolis label, Zant Records. The album was produced by Tadpole and American Motherload at Johnny K's Groovemaster Studios (Disturbed/Soil/Machine Head). "Come to Life" is a mighty resurrection of the balls-to-the-wall, arena-sized hard rock once pioneered by such legends as Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin back in the 70's and later polished by such groups as Alice in Chains and Soundgarden throughout the 80's and 90's. Making their mark in the 21st century, American Motherload is on a mission to rock your lame ass wherever you live and will be doing just that, coast to coast, coming this fall.
