American Pinup combines elements of punk, rockabilly, surf, and ska to create their own distinct brand of rock/pop that is melodic and straightforward, tight and gritty, earnest and tongue-in-cheek, emotional and energetic all at once, and is translated to a live setting with both passion and ease.

Biography

Hailing from Westchester County, New York, female-fronted four piece punk band AMERICAN PINUP has swiftly gained notoriety within the New York underground music scene and has become known for their energetic live performances and strong DIY-punk ethos. Their sound, however, extends well beyond the musical tenets of punk, recalling elements of such genres as rockabilly, surf, ska, and pop. Their highly anticipated debut album Strange Creatures is set to be released in January of 2010 on Altercation Records. Some of their influences include The Bouncing Souls, Misfits, Descendents, The Distillers, No Doubt, The Cramps, Weezer, Dead Kennedys, and Against Me!. The band's catchy melodies, strong lyrics, dynamic musical arrangements, fun live performances, and hard-working attitude make them an up-and-coming outfit to watch.
