AM Exchange

AM Exchange

 Portland, Oregon, USA

With an energetic live show and unforgettable songs, AM Exchange has continually pushed themselves to be bigger and better, tackling the Whisky A GoGo and multi-city radio play before they were 21. They have recently released a new EP that demonstrates their continued growth and unrelenting vision.

Originally hailing from Eugene, OR as The Skyline, AM Exchange began when songwriter Daniel Jacobs posted an ad in the University of Oregon music hall in the spring of 2006. Jacobs then met drummer Mike McGuffey, and along with a few friends, worked through many of the band’s earliest songs. Eventually, this resulted in three recording sessions, two contractual offers, one arrest, and many unforgettable shows including a performance at the Whisky A Go Go with Dennis Rodman in attendance, a benefit show for Senate candidate Steve Novick, a debaucherous St. Patrick’s Day gig with amateur strippers, and a gig at the Campbell Club that ended with Jacobs smashing his guitar.

In June of 2007, they teamed up with producer and engineer Ben Ordonez to record their Lost Anthems EP. Lost Anthems reflected a new sonic step for The Skyline, with gritty guitars, politically charged lyrics and an unrelenting rhythm section. Ordonez would later dub the band the “silver lining on today's rock & roll horizon.” In August, the band moved operations to Portland and officially changed their name to AM Exchange. They worked hard to establish themselves in the local scene and received positive reviews opening for touring acts such as The Dreaming and Trust Company.

In the summer of 2009, AM Exchange joined forces with Black Diamond Studios engineer Kelly “Gl1tch” Lambert to record their eponymous EP. The new EP reflects a more expansive sound for the band, combining elements of ‘90s alternative and ‘60s British Invasion. After a brief hiatus, the band has reemerged with bassist Matt Johnson and guitarist Dusty Richards. AM Exchange is available for free at local Portland record stores and is also available on iTunes, Amazon, Rhapsody and Lala, and is being released to college radio stations around the country.
