"My Impressions of Amey’s Music "
The first time I heard Amey’s Music was a cool, brisk fall evening in Chicago. As I was walking down the street that night I passed by an open window to a little pub down on Broadway Avenue I heard this unique, soulful voice singing “Acappella” as Amey bartended, serving her customers and entertaining them at the same time. This grabbed my attention in a major way. I had to turn around and look into this open window to hear more of this magical voice. It was the best turnaround I have ever made. The voice was so good that I had to speak with this Amey person. As I got to know Amey I was able to hear more of her many songs she had written....She writes songs about her painfull journey of addiction that almost took her life more than once and songs about life in general......She says "I'm Damn Lucky To Be Alive" thanks to "God" for giving me a chance to live my life "Clean & Sober"!!!
Amey has been doing a lot of traveling this year playing festivals and doing "CHICK SINGER NIGHTS" in different citys....She just returned from NYC performing at the "BITTER END" for CSN and performing at the "CUTTING ROOM" Blues Jam. Amey was also selected to perform at "CSN" in Hollywood Florida at "OHARAS" Jazz & Blues club!!! I love doing the shows for "CSN" it is a really cool experience to join the other "Chicks" in a wonderful night of music!!! We support each other and have a lot of fun doing it.....
Amey’s vocal style has been compared to Janis Joplin, Tina Turner, Macy Grey and Mellisa Ethridge just to name a few. But, everyone that hears Amey’s voice says that it is so "Unique" and original that nothing out there sounds like her!!! When she performs live shows the whole place just stands in awe-if a show is what you want, Amey will sure give you one!!!
Amey has worked with and learned from some of the best in the business. - working with band members from Leon Russel, Johnny Winters, Emilou Harris, Chystal Gayle, Stevie Wonder, Ray charles, Bette Midler, Paul Shaffer and the late Great “Junior Wells” Blues Band just to mention a few that have worked with her in the studio as well as live shows- not to mention Amey was Lead Vocals for the “Nashville” based hard rock tour band “DAMZEL”.
Amey is currently in the recording studio at "Ear Food Studio's" that owner Tommy Lee Cook has just opened in Buckingham Florida. I am having an "Awsome" experience on a new "CD" project working with the Rock Band "The Kornbread Brothers" backing her musically and with Hamp Walker as "Cheif Engineer" of the project is one of the best experiences that I have had in the studio...This project "Rocks"!!!
Amey is a Gypsy at heart-loves the road and playing music from town to town, got the green out of her for sure!!! Her songwriting skills come natural but with the guidance of song writers like James “Sweet Baby” Taylor. He told her - “Amey, say what you have to say in a song and then get out of it!!!”. That’s just what she does, “short and sweet and to the point”. when you here her songs it’s like reading the pages from the book of Amey’s life. That’s why I am her major supporter and promote her music where ever and when ever I can… I know that you will agree when you hear Amey’s voice and songs that you will want to hear more from this talented ARTIST!
