"Fresh Spread – A.M. Feelgood – Pfeelgood Sessions"

Four new songs from A.M Feelgood, the mysterious and self alienated math-pop band. It is one of my personal favorites for I am addicted to the bouncy contrasted heavy force of the quartet. Having a guitar tone that has a reverbal quality similar to the production value of Enemies, the band play with soothing post-pop melodies and more playful and interactive musicianship. While other bands of similar influences tend to exploit and star one concentrated concept that brims into its extinction flood, Pfeelgood Sessions let all musicians give a complete piece of themselves. Being another great band from Austin, the scene there is becoming a top contender of math-rock cities. All the good stuff that defines ASIWYFA, Vasa, and Uk rooted pioneers are held within the EP without being exploited or damaged. Really standing as a platform for the bands lift off into their own multi-dimensional thought experiments, the genius of the universe is drawn out into sonic form. I could write a bunch of bullshit or just quote the band which I agree, is the true recipe for great music. - Spread

"Fresh Spread – A.M. Feelgood – I Sing For The Future"

This Austin tropical math-pop has solid fat groove, a laid back and inborn sound that is close to Enemies, adding a post-rock dynamic and some beast drum fills. I Sing For The Future sounds so far away from home, utilizing Celtic stomp rhythms and very Irish and European tones. The drummer is rock solid, and sounds like a machine that has learned the human touch of emphatic drumming. I love the guitar texture and the little bit of fuzz at the contours of each droning note. The melodies are long and drawn out over a few sections, which is something I need, to stay in tune with the music. This track gets heavier as the seconds count down, and the rest of the band follows the drummer acrobatics with their own. It really sounds like a modern Bela Fleck and the Flecktones outro with mad pedals. This music is ahead of its time, and perhaps it sings for the future. Their minds have already occupied what’s ahead and now they wait. - Spread

"A.M. Feelgood - Feelgood"

Do not call A.M. Feelgood your standard garage band. Yes they started out as four guys just wanting to make music that they loved. But Austin, Texas clearly has an underground pool somewhere that is spitting out musicians, left and right. A.M. Feelgood consists of Jake Redding (guitarist), Chris Norfolk (guitarist), Danny Johnson (bass) and Hunter Whitehorn (vocals and drums). Their first album entitled Feelgood has me on my toes. The only reasonable way you could tell that this was a home-made, self released album happens to be the photograph as their cover art work which is a simplistic, starry get together of color.

This four-piece happens to be one of the best sounding, put-together, musically inclined, talented individuals I've heard in a while. Why am I saying this? Because four friends deciding "Hey let's start a band?" doesn't technically happen anymore. And most of all, a group like this doesn't sound this well in-tune with one another. A.M. Feelgood has the longevity to be an instrumental band, to not only record a sophomore album but music videos could clearly be in the soon to be future. If you can already see a scene being played out, as the song progresses to the next measure and step, to me that's how you know you are witnessing a small evolution; that small evolution towards the next album.

With “Anthills” ranging from layered effects to guitar shredding and most of all a lead guitar promise bringing the whole institution together. And to even out the mass of volume, a voice plans out its next move from beneath the entirety. “Honest, I Will” plays with your memory, something sounds vaguely familiar, a classic nod to the early 2000's happens to play on my mind but changes directly as a repetition grows and grows. What I like best is that each track renders its possibilities, in the way that Arcade Fire released The Suburbs. Once you look through the track names of Feelgood, you see everyday occurrences that suburban areas and small towns tend to inhabit. So in honor of summer, listen to this self-released album. It will make you feel at home and hopefully inspired to create your own sort of mischief. Keep a look out for these guys; they could easily end up recording more music, so play catch up now. - The Equal Ground

"A.M. Feelgood - (feelgood)"

Have posted these here before when they just had the two tracks out as a teaser, and I promised to update.. I managed to remember somehow, anyways the rest is out today. Was pretty impressed by the two tracks and the rest of the album isn't a let down. In case you didn't read/don't wanna bother reading the original post will give you a little break down of the sound. These guys bring a really decent mix of math rock and post rock, I think before I said nearly seamless and I'd stand by that. They are instrumental bar the samples and the odd background vocal sounds, and the music is energised, intricate and interesting. I thought this was going to be a ep but actually turns out is nine tracks long, no complaints here though and they also have put it out for name the price to top it off. - New Noise Archives
