"“… emotive melodies of a great strengths…bright, full of energy.”"

“…emotive melodies of a great strengths…bright, full of energy.”

Amilcar is an artist of a specially melodic path. In the album this fact is clearly obvious. The twelve pieces constituting this CD are New Instrumental Music, with emotive melodies of a great strength. The music is bright, full of energy. Sometimes it becomes festive, and at other times melancholy. Amilcar skillfuly utilizes acoustic and electronic instrumental sounds. The piano is the soloist instrument in some passages.

""...potential to attract listeners outside of the usual new age ...""

Amilcar is a mono-named pianist whose sense of melody at times recalls that of the California post-minimalist Harold Budd and of pioneering new age pianist Liz Story. However, the Florida-based musician's Vacuuming the Forest has a richer sonic texture than either of his predecessors, with his watery grand piano solos supported unobtrusively by ambient synthesizers. Although these 12 tracks fade into each other quite nicely, there's enough melodic variety to keep the album from sounding like a single hour-long track; for example, the title track introduces acoustic guitar, percussion, and eerily voice-like synth textures, and "Sunrise Harbor" adds subtle nature sounds. More melodic than many similar albums, Vacuuming the Forest has some potential to attract listeners outside of the usual new age demographic without sounding like a sellout to fans of the style. - Stewart Mason, All Music Guide

""... a masterful set of gentle atmospheres and soundscapes with subtle drama and widespread appeal. ""

Vacuuming the Forest is a set of lush melodies with subtle nature sounds woven into and around the sound design. Amilcar (David Moreno) composed, engineered and performed all of the music.

There is a feature of this experience that deserves praise before and above all else. David is donating a portion of the proceeds from this CD to Covenant House Florida, an agency that serves runaway, homeless and at-risk youth (under 21 years old) in Fort Lauderdale and Orlando. Their services include outreach, crisis shelters, transitional housing, walk-in and aftercare assistance. Visit www.covenanthousefl.org. (Having worked with adolescents as a drug and alcohol therapist, I can assure all of you that it is an extremely difficult population. I now work with adjudicated adult males and they are much easier.)

After that noble and credible action, one could expect the music to be anti-climactic. It is not! David has created a masterful set of gentle atmospheres and soundscapes with subtle drama and widespread appeal. The atmospheres surround and caress focused listeners as the journey through the forest begins. The vehicle continues to be a conduit of love, purity and tranquility as David takes his charges through the paces to honor the natural heritage of this habitat. Each composition transitions smoothly to and sets the stage for the next. Deep listeners will finish the journey feeling refreshed — almost purified.

This is a necessary holistic wellness tool. The donations add much icing to the cake. David has a rich heritage and a promising future.

"Amilcar's name goes into space in course to a comet""

JANUARY 12, 2005 – POMPANO BEACH, FL. (PRWEB): “It sounds like science fiction but it is a reality” Cindy Smith head of the relations department of New Vibes Music said today after the name of Amílcar saved on a disc successfully took off from Cape Canaveral aboard the Delta II rocket which carried NASA’ Deep Impact’s spacecraft heading to the Comet Temple 1.

NASA's Deep Impact spacecraft will take a half-year to travel 431 million kilometers (268 million miles) to the vicinity of comet Tempel 1 to conduct scientific experiments that could yield a dramatic breakthrough in our understanding of comets.

We managed to have Amílcar’s name aboard Deep Impact thanks to “Send Your Name to a Comet” campaign organized by NASA early last year. His name is on a disc mounted on the impactor spacecraft. This is a great timing for us since this is just happening weeks before the long awaited release of his New Age CD "Vacuuming the Forest". Amílcar’s "Vacuuming the Forest" CD will be released on March 3, 2005, said Cindy Smith from New Vibes Music.

“I have been always attracted by space exploration” said the native from Venezuela with years of music business experience, providing music jingles for Internet based companies, and producing Techno and New Age music. He expressed his satisfaction on this historical event. “I feel very lucky. Not everybody has the opportunity to have your name sent out of this world and to be sent in course to a comet. I feel very blessed and I am very thankful to NASA for this campaign” said Amílcar.

""...an interesting and heartfelt blend of meditative New Age music...""

This CD is an interesting and heartfelt blend of meditative New Age music. Using instruments such as the piano, harp and strings, Amilcar successfully creates a mood that is relaxing and serene. Adding to the atmosphere are various sounds of nature—crickets chirping, birds twittering, wind billowing and flowing water. Each song is carefully construed, and I really got a sense of Amilcar’s devotion and closeness with nature. The booklet shows well the image of a peaceful forest, one that is slowly being taken away as the population continues to grow.
Every song is very well organized and played. I did not find a single track that I felt was weak or underdeveloped. My favorites include the title track and the delicate piano work in "Sunrise Harbor." Showing that the music is more important than the money, Amilcar shares a portion of the sales to the Covenant House youth-care agency in Florida, which is a respectable notion.
Overall, anyone interested in New Age or meditative music should not pass this up. His music offers a reprieve from the hostilities of daily life, showering the listener with a glimpse of the beauty of nature.

"New Album By Amilcar Released on iTunes"

Pompano Beach, FL (New Vibes Music Press) July 28, 2005 -- New Vibes Music announced today that it has just released on iTunes "Vacuuming the Forest," the latest album by internationally acclaimed New Age composer and interpreter Amilcar.

"Vacuuming the Forest" is part of Amilcar’s latest project, a series of recordings dedicated to nature, peace and relaxation. Most of every track of the album contains very subtle samples of original recordings of "mother nature sounds" wind, water, birds and crickets from different places around the world and is intended to inspire and relax its listeners. Showing that the music is more important than the money, Amilcar shares a portion of the sales to the Covenant House Florida, a shelter for runaway and homeless children.

Amilcar personally recorded the nature sounds heard on "Vacuuming the Forest" at different locations around the globe, from sub-tropical Periwinkle and Cardinal birds and cicadas in Florida to South American crickets, from Japanese shishi-odoshi fountains to crickets in the deep forest in the south of France. "It is as if my portable digital recorder had created a vacuum to capture for posterity sounds of certain species," he explains. "Sounds of nature really surround us all the time, but we tend to ignore them as we are pre-occupied with the stress of daily life."

"On VACUUMING THE FOREST, I didn’t want to overwhelm the listener with sounds of nature, but rather give a gentle hint or reminder that Mother Earth is around us, always," he shares. "My music is all about tuning back into nature, and achieving a balance of organic and man-made sounds throughout each of the melodies. This album takes the listener away to a journey into a beautiful forest filled with enticing music and natural ambience."

Bio

Born in Caracas, Venezuela, composer-keyboardist Amilcar started playing the melodica at age four, and two years later began formal piano lessons. "Growing up listening to classical music," he says, "felt natural to me... it was very calming, expressive and harmonic." But his early training got a bumpy start, thanks to his teacher innovative methods. "She told me 'You have to learn to differentiate between low and high tones' ,"Amilcar explains. "When she would play a low tone, I would have to take few steps backwards with my eyes closed. Then, when she played a high tone, I was to take a few steps forward, my eyes still closed. I loved that idea! Unfortunately, I ended up at the hospital with four stitches on my forehead when she played a very high octave and I ran into a wall!"

Things progressed smoothly after that, and the piano remains Amilcar's favorite instrument though he now plays a wide range of keyboards. "It is very romantic and inspirational", he enthuses. "I love the acoustic and resonance it generates, and how the piano displaces vibrations into air, giving you a tremendous range of tonal possibilities."

By the age 12, Amilcar owned hundreds of records and started a DJ business with a friend from school. "We used to mix records," he shares, and even experiment with sounds and lights." His album collection was a source of pride and joy to the budding professional. "I consider musical recording like books", he explains. "Each one has a story to tell, something to teach, something to share."

Amilcar himself shares his own passion for classical instrumentation and the pulsing natural rhythms of the tropical rainforest on his recorded debut, VACUUMING THE FOREST, which was released in 2005 after years spent composing music jingles for telecommunication companies and Internet Radio stations. Drawing upon his experiences and others, Amilcar brings a fresh perspective to his music.

Putting his philosophy into action, Amilcar is donating a portion of VACUUMING THE FOREST to Covenant House Florida, a shelter to runaway and homeless children.
