Ammunition

Ammunition is a rock and roll band based in Lambertville, New Jersey. Comprised of Spencer Johnson, (handling lead vocal duties), Stefan Bogner, on lead guitar, Rick Anthes, bass, and Peter Palilonis on the drums.

Formed as the band Gunpowder in 2010, Bogner, Johnson and Palilonis were core members, the three having previously met playing in a local heavy-metal outfit. Various early lineup changes saw the departure of Ty Asoudegan, now of Philadelphia rock act Mach22, and Lucas Rinz, now of Satellite Hearts. With Stefan assuming sole guitar responsibilities, and the drafting of Rick Anthes, (a former bandmate of Spencer's in the local heavy-metal scene), on bass. This is Ammunition.

A comfortable creative medium was soon reached in which the band's songwriting could evolve, and congeal into its present state of sonic fortitude. Ammunition's goal has remained constant, regardless of lineup changes, as the desire to, firstly, enjoy playing music, then bring that music to audiences, no matter the size, wherever they congregate.

Stylistically, the Ammunition sound could, at first listen, be described as straight-ahead, heavy rock, which is undeniably so. However, the differing inlfluences of all four members add a subtlety and diversity which presents itself to the careful listener. Remnants of Classical, funk and classic rock remain as trace evidence of these different backgrounds, creating a depth which sets it apart from the more immediately apparent influence of bands like Motorhead, Alice in Chains, and AC/DC.

The band has released two EP's, due in large part to the help of Pier Giacalone, of Hopetown Studios in Bucks County, PA: A three-track demo in 2011 and another EP early this year. Moving forward into 2012, Ammunition will be maintaining a residency with a regular slot the last friday of every month at John and Peter's in New Hope, PA. In addition, they hope to continue to branch out and add more performances in and around the greater Philadelphia area. This continues the ever-present obligation of the band to bring good rock to good people. Their goal remains, as ever: Have fun, play rock.
