Bio

In the 2006 summer between 6th and 7th grade Amnesia was born. What began as an underground musical creation transformed into a rock machine for the ages. Originally founded as a rock trio, they added a drummer that would complete the metamorphosis into the band they are today. At the start Amnesia worked as a cover band playing a wide range of music including Blind Melon, Arcade Fire, and the White Stripes. Songs by Nirvana, OK GO, Matchbox Twenty, and the Dave Mathews Band were added to their repertoire. Their covers of the Pixies and The Dead Weather always get their audiences going. Looking to widen their audience, they expanded to cover classic rock standards by bands like The Rolling Stones and The Steve Miller Band. The band continues to expand their list of covers along with their fan-base.

Amnesia’s performance of these covers has come to influence the bands sound: Alt. fusion of post-punk pop such as the Strokes with the riff heavy funk of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Moving forward they have been creating their own original music. The band has developed their own catalogue of alternative rock with heavy blues-rock influences. Driving guitars and rhythms, infectious lyrics, and an experimental spirit are their hallmarks. As Amnesia has grown over the years they have developed and transitioned into a band with their own unique and mind-blowing sound.

The band has quickly grown into one of the most well recognized and popular bands in the area. Last year they emerged as the winners of the inaugural Snyderstock band competition. They have been serious contenders in the Oakwood Battle of the Bands for two years in a row, and stole the show at the Oakwoodstock High School Music Festival, emerging as the clear fan favorite. Fundraising for charities is near to the bands heart, as they have performed and worked to raise money for multiple charities including Learning Tree farm and the Down Syndrome Association. Looking to the future, the band continues down the path to establishing themselves as a dominant force in the music industry, first locally and eventually nationally.
