AMORANGI

A childhood rocked by Johnny Cash, thanks to her mother, Pink Floyd, Hendrix, the Doors, Neil Young and Bob Marley from her older siblings and an inherited gift for music from her Maori father.

Like great cuisine, the art is to take simple everyday ingredients then to add an unexpected combination of herbs or spices. That’s what Amorangi’s music is about, melting the familiar with the unexpected, mixing them with her warm vocals, then serving it all up in an intimate or festive atmosphere. Her world/folk is infused with her roots and the experiences both negative and positive which make up the colorful mosaic of her world.
She’s done lots of different things and lived in several countries but since 2009 she has embarked on a new adventure: Music
From the local open mike session she has featured on the Bar a Thym “ session acoustique album” and is now finishing her first album, which will be out early 2012.
She’s grateful to have opened for, or shared the stage with CJ Payan, Ilanga, Poum Chak, Kabbalah, Will the Blue Griot , Isaya, Atef and played in some of the best venues in the region, Omega Live, Espace Malraux, Theater du Rocher, Theater Marc Baron.

In January 2012 Amorangi will be present at Midem 2012.
She is looking to connect with bookers, producers, labels, distributors, agents and anyone who catches the vision to share the unique flavor of World /folk /blues /reggae which is Amorangi’s music. Bon appétit!

Pour les Frenchie's: Née pour chanter, un timbre de voix unique, Amorangi, auteur-compositeur-interprète, multi-instrumentiste Néozélandaise d’origine maorie a l’âme imprégnée de musique et se découvre jeune un don inné pour composer. Des voyages aux multiples influences et une conscience aigüe face aux enjeux humains et sociaux vont faire évoluer musiques et textes tandis qu’elle puisera son inspiration dans d’authentiques expériences de vie, bonnes ou mauvaises, sublimées par une vision positive du monde.
En 2009, c’est en France, dans la région PACA, qu’Amorangi a dévoilé ses compos sur les scènes ouvertes des cafés concerts, découvrant un public prêt à l’accueillir, tressaillant au son de sa voix et voyageant sur ses mélodies.
