Bio

AMUN-RA
"The hidden life force"

Born Cedric Huff in the college town of Athens, Ga.(uga); Amun was blessed with the gift of multisensory communication skills. During the early 80's Amun's parents
bought him a set of turntables, mixer, and a microphone. Hip-Hop became his life, purpose, and religion. During that same year, under the influence of Hip Hop legends: Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five, Run-Dmc, Kurtis Blow, Fat Boys, LL Cool J and other pioneers; Amun completed his first demo. His music received heavy airplay on Uga's 90.5 fm. Over the next four years, Amun formed several groups that won many talent shows around Athens Ga.

At the age of 16, Amun read the autobiography of Malcolm X, which awakened the young lyricist to a higher sense of purpose. During the same year, Amun was introduced to a then 15 yr old Jermaine Dupri. The duo created music together for the next 2 years. The partnership ended when Dupri discovered his 1st major group: Kriss Kross. On a quest and mission to spread his music, Amun moved to Atlanta, Ga to attend Clark Atlanta University. At this time Amun connected with childhood friend, Tarik(top cat)Camp. Top Cat was a dj/producer who had dreams of starting his own record label. Amun then recruited college mate, Scott(1-800 scott free)Lee from Detroit Mi. The crew OCP (off campus productions) was born. Under the management of Ian Burke; founder of TLC, Xscape, OutKast, Goodie Mob and Organized Noise, OCP shopped their music to major labels. Creative differences eventually forced Amun and his crew to split ties with their management and go underground. From 1993-1996, OCP worked hard at perfecting their talents. After paying dues and creating a buzz on the Atlanta music scene, Amun and Scott Free moved to Detroit, MI. in 1996. Top Cat stayed behind and continued to build his record label.

After 2 years of rocking mics, blessing stages and creating a buzz for himself in Detroit; Amun moved back to Atlanta. Amun got married and formed the Hip Hop duo, "PURE ENERGY"(composed of Amun and his now ex-wife Amunet). Their cd, "A HIGHER VIBRATION", is considered as an underground classic amongst the conscious circuit. Receiving great reviews,"A HIGHER VIBRATION" was in heavy rotation on Atlanta's wrfg 89.3 fm. Their last project,"WAKE UP!! THE TIME IS NOW!!",featured production and a song performance by Professor Griff of Public Enemy.

Now a soloist, Amun has reconnected with Top Cat (producer & ceo of mass comm music). Amun-Ra's latest project: "LET THERE BE LIGHT", offers a refreshing alternative to the monotonous, materialistic music that currently saturates the air waves. In essence Amun-Ra is the continuation and evolution of the great revolutionary artists that paved the way: Gil Scott Heron, The Last Poets, Bob Marley, KRS ONE, Public Enemy, Rakim, X Clan, Wu Tang Clan, Dead Prez etc. On his travels, Amun has opened for great artists such as: James Brown, Run Dmc, Public Enemy, Jay Z, The Alcoholics, Crucial Conflict, Carl Carlton, Foxy Brown and he's blessed the mic on stage along side GhostFace Killah. It's now time to spread the music and message of Amun-Ra to the masses.
