ABOUT

Scholastic songstress Amy Allen is “the new it girl.” The Portland, Maine native now Brooklyn-dwelling artist is gearing up to release her full length album of "pop gold” tunes you can rock out to.

Compared to Allen’s previous releases, Get Me Outta Here! is more rock-centric and slightly darker - both lyrically and sonically. The record is best described as thought-provoking pop with a classic-rock backbone.

Equal parts vulnerable and tongue and cheek, there’s honesty in Allen’s songwriting that is missing in today’s Top 40. Introspective, handcrafted lyrics tackle the pondering ideas of 20-somethings and break them down into tangible emotions. The music is brooding yet unquestionably pop, nodding to some of Allen's earliest influences like Everclear and The Ronettes, among others.

On naming the new album, Allen says “I chose Get Me Outta Here! because that feeling of restlessness mixed with anxiety and frustration is a sentiment that threads through the entire record. I also love that it sounds like a classic movie title, a la “Can’t Buy Me Love” or “That Thing You Do!”

Allen released her most recent EP, TandeMania, as Amy & The Engine in winter of 2015 to rave reviews from the Northeast’s most beloved music curators and national press. The record, which premiered on Consequence of Sound, helped land nominations for the New England Music Award’s Best Songwriter, Best New Act, Pop Act of the Year, and The New England Deli’s Pop Act of the Year, in addition to opening for national acts Vance Joy, Guster, Kacey Musgraves, Rachel Platten and more.

Allen gets down with a worldly group of men she befriended while attending Berklee College of Music. Her band consists of lead guitarist Vinny da Silva from Londrina, Brazil, and surf-loving drummer Mano Ruiz from Lima, Peru.

Lyrics

"I Got You"

Written By: Amy Allen,Tyler Perry

VERSE 1:
When the bridge burned down,
I didn't even notice
When the car rolled round,
And on the radio
They said that we would drown
But I was happy sitting next to you

When the snow rolled in
The Weatherman came on
He said the frost would win
But we were goin' strong
Shootin' juice and gin
With snow up to our necks
We sang a song

CHORUS:
I got you
Hey, hey, hey
I got you (2x)

VERSE 2:
When the earthquake shook
The ground beneath our feet
We didn't even look
We we're dancing in the streets
So when our names they took
To put us in the paper we just laughed

When the Spacemen struck
In their flying ships
Looking so green and tough
Funny language on their lips
They tried to beam us up
But I didn't give a fuck
'Cause I got you

CHORUS:
I got you
Hey, hey, hey
I got you

"Last Forever"

Written By: Amy Allen,Tyler Perry

VERSE 1:
Hold, steady as a stone in need
Oh, somethings comin’ over me
Hush, quiet as the song recedes
More teeth marks on my tongue

CHORUS:
If you could read my mind
Peeking over my shoulder
Would you say it was done
When the story was over
Never paraded my heart around
Opened up and laid it down

No don’t go, and leave me in mess
Goes to show, I need you I confess
Hold my hand, and tell me this will last forever

VERSE 2:
Maybe I should turn and run
But Mom, says you’re just another one
Poor me, wishin’ we could only be
Seen on a cinema screen

CHORUS:
If you could read my mind
Peeking over my shoulder
Would you say it was done
When the story was over
Never paraded my heart around
Opened up and laid it down

No don’t go, and leave me in mess
Goes to show, I need you I confess
Hold my hand, and tell me this will last forever

BRIDGE:
Would you turn the page
of my paper cage?
Could you stand and walk away
from every line I ever wrote to you
but never spoke to you?

CHORUS:
If you could read my mind
Peeking over my shoulder
Would you say it was done
When the story was over
Never paraded my heart around
Opened up and laid it down

No don’t go, and leave me in mess
Goes to show, I need you I confess
Hold my hand, and tell me this will last forever

"Stronger"

Written By: Amy Allen

VERSE 1:
Phoned-in lover, static clings to the end of the line
Open water, siren sings will you look at the time
‘cause I lost mine

Signed a piece of paper and we put it away
When I saw your sorry signature beginning to fade, oh no
Had a cup of coffee and a hell of a run,
Oh I know a roller coaster when I see one (I jumped off)

CHORUS:
Ooo I know there’s nothing stronger
Ooo stronger than love (2x)

VERSE 2:
Bedside fable, paints a pretty picture of a feeling in the back of your mind
Are we able, to separate the vision of a perfectly American lie
from our lives

Dealt a 7-2, played it close to my chest, oh I
Emptied out my pockets and I put it to rest (oh no)
Sealed your sorry letter with a slip of my tongue
Scared of nothing better so I settled (I don’t know)

CHORUS:
Ooo I know there’s nothing stronger
Ooo stronger than love (2x)

"Love Me"

Written By: Amy Allen

VERSE 1:
Oh so this is how
How we take it slow
One step at a time

And oh, so this is how,
How we get to know
The rhythm of the lines
In our minds

PRE-CHORUS:
Oooh, oooh
Crawlin' to the top of my tongue
Oooh, oooh
Swallowin' words I've never really sung

CHORUS:
Love me, love me oooh
Tell me that you do (2x)
Cause if you say that you love me
Oh, I'm gonna answer you
So love me, love me oooh
Tell me that you do

VERSE 2:
Somethin in the way,
In the way we change, every day
Growin in the light

Makes me wanna fall,
Fall and break it all, learn to crawl
With you by my side
In my mind

PRE-CHORUS:
Oooh, oooh
Crawlin' to the peaks of my teeth
Ooo, ooo
Looking out across the words I'm scared to speak

CHORUS:
Love me, love me oooh
Tell me that you do (2x)
Cause if you say that you love me
Oh, I'm gonna answer you
So love me, love me oooh
Tell me that you do

BRIDGE:
Oh, cause I've been tryin' to keep my thoughts low
But you know, I can hardly keep 'em locked, so

CHORUS:
Love me, love me oooh
Tell me that you do (2x)
Cause if you say that you love me
Oh, I'm gonna answer you
So love me, love me oooh
Tell me that you do
