Colorado based Amy and the Rock Sisters have produced a great little CD. Throughout there are hints of folk and Christian rock, but the major influence is country.
Amy's vocals are reminiscent of classic country singers in the vein of Emmy Lou Harris or Nancy Griffith.
"Don't Let Go" with its chunky acoustic rhythm section, is the stand out track from the collection. It's upbeat, catchy and danceable. Yet even through the slower songs, the bands confidence and energy carry this CD along.
Another stand out track is “Tennessee Two Step”. Amy's rich voice reveals some nice turns of melody while the mandolin compliments the melancholy atmosphere. This is a beautiful song.
The CD's production is excellent and the band is solid. On the piano based "My Angel", the band goes all out for some celestial heavenly arrangements. "Two Hands on the Wheel" brings the CD back down to earth with a tale of love moved on.

Amy Mathesius will perform on Sunday for the release of her CD "Colorado Blue." The album's inception was in 2005, when she broke her hip skiing. "It forced me to stop and go into my art and spirituality," Mathesius said. It features 12, mostly local musicians, along with her daughter, Nicole Granati, who is a student at Colorado Mountain College. All 12 songs on the album were written since her move to Summit County, CO from Pennsylvania six years ago. Mathesius wrote all the songs and alternates singing lead and backup with her daughter. The song "Don't Let Go," which features Granati on lead vocals, was recently picked up by the Warrior Girl Music record label for its "Females on Fire Compilation 3." "Colorado Blue" is all original acoustic, folk and country rock and was recorded locally at the Snowflake Studio in Breckenridge. - Summit Daily Newspaper

The Rock Sisters single "Don't Let Go," featuring Nicole on vocals, is included on the 2008 release Females on Fire Compilation 3, with the Warrior Girl Music record label.
Rocksistersmusic released The Sounds of the Summit compilation CD in July 2009. This project, conceived and produced by Amy, features 17 songs by local Summit County musicians, including Colorado Blue by the Rock Sisters. A portion of proceeds are donated by rocksistersmusic to the Friends of the Dillon Ranger District (national forest) in Summit County, CO.

Bio
Amy has been studying music since she was eight years old. She was performing, writing and recording while living in Pittsburgh, PA including a stint on bass with The Cynics and Get Hip Records. Daughter, Nicole, began studying music at the age of three and performing at the age of eleven, and is also a songwriter. Daughter, Jacquelyn, began studying music at a young age and performing at age eight. Consequently, the girls grew up playing music.
In 2005, Amy had a traumatic skiing accident which forced her deeper into her music and spirituality. Amy & the Rock Sisters' CD, Colorado Blue, came about out of this time. It features talented songwriting throughout by Amy, and sweet family harmonies. Amy and the girls share vocal duties singing lead and harmony, backed by tasteful instrumentation. From the east, where the Rock Sisters originally found success, they are now pursuing music where ever it may lead.
