"Austin’s Amy Atchley Reveals ‘Where You Go’ on April 1"

Amy Atchley’s voice already may be familiar to the public from her work on many prominent national campaigns, but her presence is about to become more pronounced with the April 1 release of her new CD, Where You Go, on Cherrywood Records. On her fourth solo project, the Austin singer-songwriter delivers impeccably crafted originals that fully capture her pop smarts, vocal prowess and accomplished musicianship.

Atchley’s well-developed sense of melody, nuanced singing and excellent piano- and guitar-playing shine on Where You Go. Tracks such as the gentle “Way Out,” the bright, mid-tempo “Sway” and the power-ballad “Someday” capture her ethereal vocals and the dreamy vibe that permeates her work. Drum and piano tracks actually were recorded right in her living room, where she played an elegant 1927 Steinway baby grand.

A Houston native, Atchley performed in two renowned Austin bands, Fabu and Hush, while earning her degree in vocal performance at the University of Texas. After college, she spent four years in New York City, developing her solo career while showcasing with artists including Ani DiFranco and Ron Sexsmith. She also worked on campaigns for Disney, eBay and the New York Lottery, among others, and helped institute music programs in more than 100 low-income schools nationally while working for VH1’s Save the Music Foundation.

Atchley is ready to go wherever Where You Go takes her, in Austin and beyond.

"Phases & Stages"

In the Nineties, Amy Atchley flitted between NYC and this Southwest music mecca she currently calls home with husband Elias Haslanger. The seven songs here constitute her first release in five years, and Where You Go settles into a laid-back ethos blasted with a summery, Barton Springs vibe. A tribute to the couple's daughters Lulu and Paris, the title track and "Raincoat" fit in neatly with adult contemporary songstresses like Sarah Bareilles and Ingrid Michaelson, piano ballads nuanced by her delicate, controlled vox. "Steal Me" sounds like a Twin Peaks love provocation, swaying back and forth through a haze of guitar and key scales. Acoustic joint "The Marrying Dress" pegs Atchley's homecoming best, both bright and touched by expansive guitar as long as the open highway. - The Austin Chronicle

"MAY 2014 MUSIC REVIEWS"

After a five-year hiatus, Where You Go marks the return of this singer’s ethereal indie-pop. Her whispered, sometimes sultry vocals are slightly evocative of Shannon Worrell, while her songs vary from piano-driven melodies, like on album opener “Way Out,” to the reverbed guitar riffs that define ”Steal Me.” - Austin Monthly Magazine

"NYToday Pick"

An enticing young vocalist, Amy Atchley has the breathy lilt of Edie Brickell and the solid songwriting skills of Lisa Loeb. Her debut album, "Speeding" (Fyre Records, 1999), falls nicely in line with the recent onslaught of female pop artists, but Atchley also manages to keep her own vibe. Her songs rumble with emotion and touch on everything from folk pop to hints of country.
