Bio

“Amazing determination, attitude, style, look and voice. Amy B is going to go a long way! I just wish Q45 would share her more.” - Kid Kenobi

Sydney based artist Amy B has always had a passion for performing, getting up on stage and being noticed. In everything she’s done she’s always been loud and proud about what she believes in and stands for. As a result she was fired from pretty much every part time job she had, however it was largely thanks to this that her true calling become loud and clear. Blame the attitude, the independence or just her refusal to back down and shut up – in the end it’s all of these traits which got her where she is today.

Born Amy Sara Brogan, Amy B grew up in the throng of the intense gridlock, corny Canto pop, condensed cosmopolitan mass that makes up Hong Kong. Her love of music was evident from the beginning and during her early years she took all kinds of contemporary dance and singing classes. With all her experience at hand Amy B still uses the natural anxiety that comes with performing to push herself even further. “When you’re up on stage the audience sees right through you. Before my performances my throat closes up and I don’t want to go on but once I’m up there I remember why I love it so much.” Her attraction to music continued throughout school and while she wasn’t always the most attentive student, regularly finding herself in detention most Mondays, she remained a devoted fan of music and the arts.

On a hot summers night in December 2005 Amy B had just finished a long nights work running the door at one of Sydney’s well known clubs. Back then her career was still only a twinkle in her eye but on this particular night she mustered the confidence to get up on the mic, unknowingly marking the start of carving a name for herself in the club scene.

After a series of events Amy B teamed up with DJ, producer and party rocker DJ Q45 in August 2006. They bonded not only as great friends but as a wicked, energetic musical team. Licensing through Ministry of Sound, they proceeded to release hot tracks including ’Naughty’ and the post-rave love song ’Delete My Number’. The pair has more in store for 2008.

While working with Q45, performing around Australia and developing her lyrical skills, Amy B felt the desire to take things further. She made the concerted decision to break into the pop scene both nationally and internationally. “Q45 [Tom] has been amazing – I owe him a lot. It was through working with him that I came to the realisation about where I wanted to go with my career. He gave me the courage to follow my dream of becoming successful in the music scene.”

Amy B spent some time recording with urban producer Israel, who’s worked with big names such as Little John, 1200 Techniques and Jade MacRae. After this Amy B took her EP to Melbourne based producers/Mixers Noam Dishon and Andy Baldwin, who just finished producing Bliss n Eso’s lastest album, to make the finishing touches on her EP. This experience helped her hone her sound and image: pop, eclectic, hot, unique and far from the average saccharine Aussie starlet. Take note: Amy B is well on the road to being seen, heard, known and loved.
