Wolf

Written By: Amy Clarke

one two three
so you’re counting sheep
do you really think
they‘ll let you sleep
now that you have
given up your guard

one two three
honey don’t you see
just because he’s
wrapped up in your
holy fleece
doesn’t mean
no it doesn’t mean
he ain’t coming for you
armed to the teeth

oh, and I tried to cry wolf
but you had to throw the book
oh - how I tried to fight
but the numbers never lie
one two three
now they’re coming for you and me

one two three
I am watching them leave
brothers mothers children lovers
over seas….
don’t look darling
no you’d better hide your eyes

oh and I tried to cry wolf
but you had to throw the book
oh – how I tried to fight
but the numbers never lie
one two three
now they’re coming for you and me

when will they wake up
will they ever wake up
what will it take to make them see
this hunger is living among us

oh and I tried to cry wolf
but you had to throw the book
oh – how I tried
but the numbers never lie
one two three
and now he’s coming for you and me

From Here

Written By: Amy Clarke (ASCAP)

V1
Now the show is over
Walking back from Central Park
With fireflies and alibis
Flickering in the dark
Somehow we start another argument
Fighting at the light
You run right through the intersection
Leaving me behind

CH1
Now I am waiting for the traffic
And the distance between us to clear
But it seems so far to reach you -
Oh, it seems so far to reach you
From here

V2
I wonder if you’re really with me
Or if I’m in this on my own
I don’t know – I’m just making these words up
As we are making our way home

CH2
Now I am waiting for the silence
And the distance between us to clear
But it seems so far to reach you -
Oh, it seems so far to reach you
From here

Br
What makes us break
where we should be strong
What makes us drag
each other’s dreams along
How can a love so right
make me feel so wrong

V3
Even though the show is over
You still want to watch the TV
With late night lies and alibis
Still flickering all around me

CH3
Oh, I am waiting for the static
And the distance between us to clear
But it seems so far to reach you
Oh, it seems so far to reach you
From here
From here
From here

Fight or Flight

Written By: Amy Clarke (ASCAP)

Fight or flight now
What are you gonna do?

Cause they've installed fear
And we're still here - maybe
It's time for us to choose

With lies lies lies lies lies everywhere
They've poisoned the air
Making it hard to breathe

The last thing we can do
is just stand by
No, we must not comply
We must do what no one dares

Don't say there's nothing left to do
When giving up is what they want from you

Fight or flight
What are you gonna do?
Wrong or right?

Are you gonna
stand up for your rights?
Or simply turn off the lights
And hope that no one notices you

With lies lies lies lies lies everywhere
They've poisoned the air
Making it hard to breathe

The last thing that we can do
is just stand by
No - We must not comply
We must do what no one dares

Don't say
there is nothing you can do
When giving up is what they want from you

"Rise rise rise rise rise" she said,
"No this isn't the end -
No, I don't believe it is over yet"

Between The Ice and The Ocean

Written By: Amy Clarke (ASCAP)

It begins with the sunlight
Gleaming crystalline
First a drop forms
Finally a stream

Between the ice and the ocean

There’s a growing, rising tide
Forming unseen rivers
Threatening to divide

But we’ve been so busy conquering
Destroying, taking sides
We have not heard the warning
Now we’re running out of time

Between the ice and the ocean
Between - a secret sleeps

Deep within the core
Memories remain
They could not tame the land
It claimed them just the same

Between the ice and the ocean
Between you and me

Their manifest is ancient
The ice and sea
They soothe our fevered planet
When we get too close to heat…

But now it’s not the sun we fear
Oh, now it’s not the sun we fear
No, now it’s not the sun we fear

Can you hear me?

Between the ice and the ocean

A NEW WAY

Written By: Amy Clarke (c) ASCAP ScorpFaery Productions

Lately I'm talking to trees
And find that they're answering me
I can hear whispers in rustling leaves
Speaking of secrets no one can see

You can find magic in the most ordinary
You can find the sacred in the profane
You can find love in the strangest of places
If you look at life a new way

I took a walk to the sea
Where I found the waves waiting for me
As I plunged into the watery deep
I understood what was once mystery

You can find magic in the most ordinary
You can find the sacred in the profane
You can find love in the strangest of places
If you look at life a new way

We have been so lost so long,
so wrong –
Trying to get back to the garden
If only we'd open our eyes,
we would find
Heaven’s been here the whole time

You can find magic in the most ordinary
You can find the sacred in the profane
You can find love in the strangest of places
If you look at life
If you look at life
If you look at life a new way

MARY (HER STORY)

Written By: AMY CLARKE

Mary is a wild woman
with a mysterious past
nobody seems to recall
all of her glory
in the time before she
hid from history

this is her story
her story
her story
Mary

every hymn used to be Mary, Mary, Mary
why did she take from the sky?
it won't be long before
her sweet song of yore
is sounding to the sea

oh - kept on crawling
to the houses of the holy
never knowing she had been betrayed
until the masses started calling for her
how they were lonely
now the judas priest - he grows afraid
for though he likes her better fallen
she was bound to rise
to her righteous place
in the great eternal reign

this is her story
her story
her story
Mary

BELMONT BLUES

Written By: AMY CLARKE

every time I go down south
I always pass by our house
Belmont Street - I can still feel the heat
did you know they tore the fence down?

though we both tried to fight it
a fire had been ignited
in the flames destiny called our names
and her voice could not be denied

OPEN SKY

Written By: AMY CLARKE

OPEN SKY by Amy Clarke (ASCAP)

forever my friend
forever I said
I love you
together my friend
but better than ever before
and when you touch me i am sure

i want to walk all over the world with you
climbing every high
i want to wake every morning with you
from sleeping under an open sky

i can not remember
a time when you were not
by my side
and i can not imagine
another love ever feeling so right
i'm not just saying this tonight

i want to walk all over the world with you
climbing every high
i want to wake every morning with you
from sleeping under an open sky

oh my love
dont' let this change anything between us
(ALT: don't let these changes break the bond between us)
just let it grow
richer and truer and stronger and deeper

i want to walk all over the world with you
climbing every high
i want to wake every morning with you
from sleeping under an open sky

hoping i stay forever
forever my friend
forever i said
i love you

RAIN COME ROUND

Written By: AMY CLARKE

(c) AMY CLARKE / MAAT Music / ScorpFaery Productions, ASCAP 2009

when will the rain come round again
this land is getting barren
and i am sinking in the sand
oh and i can sense a pattern here
dancing with desire
but now i'm fighting fire

don't you worry my friend
i will be there until the end

dust cloud is rising on the wind
how i know tornadoes
i've lived where they land
but this time i am not frightened
i've built a better border
and i am safe here from your storm

don't you worry my friend
i will be there until the end

oh and i know when you told me
you didn't think i would find a way
find a way
but now that i have been such a good soldier
you dare not take mine away
mine away

i found peace on the playa
in many different ways
mostly by keeping this at bay

don't you worry my friend
i will be there until the end

but when will the rain come round again this land is getting barren

Set List

Sets range from 30 to 120 minutes, from solo acoustic sets to synth keyboard hybrids, to full band shows on special occasion. Her forthcoming album (spring 2010) explores relationships (between individuals, groups, and the environment) through a rich texture of musical styles - bluesy uptempo, hook-laden and Producer David Kershenbaum (Joe Jackson, Tori Amos, Tracy Chapman)'s favorite - "Belmont Blues" to classic romantic ballads of love and loss "From Here" and "Once", entrancing world & tribal rhythms in "Between The Ice and the Ocean" and "Rain Come Round" and lyrical Celtic & New Age influences surfacing in "Deeper" and "A New Way". Live sets combine these newer tunes with human rights & activist themed songs from recent After The Fall EP ("Wolf" & "Fight or Flight" "Not Your Landscape" and the title track, "After The Fall") and eclectic covers.

Other audience faves include the bluesy piano-rock of "Aquarius" mixed in with re-interpreted covers (U2, Gnarls Barkley, Loreena McK
