“A warm and colourful performer with a refreshing left of centre stage persona” Urban Country Music Festival Talent Search

It’s a childhood split between the Beach and the Bush which gives this girl her warm, laid back and earthy folk-country style. Crisp vocals, sweet guitar picking and an obvious passion for story telling through song are what make Amy Hill a captivating and refreshingly quirky performer.

From a musical family, her earliest musical influences were the family jam sessions when she was a kid. Always singing while her Mum and Dad played the guitar and banjo, it was at 16 that she grabbed one of her Dad’s song books and taught herself “The Times Are A Changin” and she was hooked. It was obvious she was a natural. From here, she became a sponge, absorbing every aspect of music she could lay her hands on…

Returning to Australia in early 2008, after living and performing in Brighton, England for 2 years, Amy won the Voice of Urban Country Music contest at the Urban Country Music Festival in Caboolture. Judges praised Amy on her unique song writing and quirky stage personality. As part of her prize, Amy recorded her first EP, “Back to the Green”, and has since been promoting it on the live music circuit throughout Brisbane.

Amy’s song writing flows naturally and honestly. Her talent and passion for imaginative story writing as a child has inevitably transpired into thoughtful as well as thought provoking story telling as a performer. Her vocals have an almost spiritual way of allowing audiences to forget their worries and feel at ease. Song writing inspiration is drawn from the world around her, in particular nature. Her love of open roads, sweeping coast lines and the Australian bush is clearly what feeds her soul and makes this country girl tick.
