"Put Yourself Into The Sassy Hands of Amy Lou and Her Blues Band"

Good Times Weekly April 26 – May 2, 2007 Issue

Amy Lou’s Blues Band
29 /Sunday Henfling’s Tavern

When: 6p.m. Where: 9450 Hwy 9, Ben Lomond
Cost: Cover at the door Info: 336-9318

It’s Sunday night and you have two choices; spend the evening slowly sinking into a state of tepid despair over the impending Monday drudgery or put yourself into the sassy hands of Amy Lou and her Blues Band and boogie-woogie till you drop. Forget all of those stiflingly “serious” concerts you attend, where you remain in your deferential silence, witnessing some musician explore his or her suspiciously self-proclaimed genius until you’re given permission to clap. With its old school brand of R&B, rockabilly, funk, jump blues and swing, the Amy Lou’s Blues band isn’t concerned with anything but the quality of your nostalgia and the degree to which your hair is messed up by night’s end. Backed by the solid accompaniment of four well-established Bay Area bluesman, lead singer Amy Lou has full reign to let loose with her rich, empowered vocals, on such high-energy numbers as “Hello Little Boy” and “Got My Mojo Working,” easily justifying the use of the word “mama” to describe a woman other than the one who birthed you.

"Happy Campers"

“Got to say how much we enjoyed the fun and frolic of Amy Lou and her band's
Cinco de Mayo performance last night at the now infamous Seahorse Saloon. The
dueling head banging between Amy and Scott was a sight to see. Yea, you had to
be there. This band has mega-chi flow--and knows how to entertain a crowd.
Thanks for the great performance.” Ron

“We had so much fun seeing you guys at San Fran! Hopefully we can plan another trip and we'll definitely go to Lous!” Kara from IL

“Two Germans enjoy nice rockin' blues with Amy in JJ's… Amy Lou, we really enjoy the night in JJ's January 11th. Nice talking to you. Hope to see you next time in JJ's or in the Bay Area. In Germany I haven't found any Blues Club which could be compared with JJ's” Frank

"Hey: My good friend Amy was rocking as usual at JJ's last evening. What a fine
show. The band gets better and better every time I see them. Amy has really
settled into a good groove. Still belting it out but not to the point it is
hurting her voice. Scott is amazing on the guitar. He just looks like he is
shaking the sleep out of his hand and the notes come flying out. The band has
such good energy. Just what we need for a new year. Good riddance to this old
one. If you get a chance catch one of their upcoming gigs. You won't be
disappointed." Johnny Lee

“Thank you for a wonderful time in Capitola. You guys rock!” Wendy

“We had a great time at the OPL and we loved your songs, you make us smile each time we see you! As a performer you are tops!” Michael and Francine

“Great show last at JJ's Blues. You're doing it right and having a good time. I would love to see everyone in the Bay Area come out and party with you. I can hardly wait to do it again!” Johnny JD
- Here’s some mighty kind props from some mighty kind people who caught a show!

Amy Lou’s Blues is an exciting, high energy jump blues band that plays a wide variety of rockin roots music that gets people movin and up on their feet. This highly entertaining band of hep cats features Amy Lou on blues-shouting vocals, sass and swagger. She is one be-boppin R&B mama whose greatest influences are Etta James, Susan Tedeschi, Ruth Brown, Johnny Guitar Watson, Janis Joplin and Ray Charles. The band is tight and features some of the bay area's finest blues musicians. Bay area veterans, Scott Miller on guitar, Gary Rosen on the bass, Mick Kilgos on the drums and Scott Porter on the keys make one hot rockin blues band. They constantly surprise people with their energy and diverse tunes. They cover all bases with a cool mix of jump blues, early R&B, swing, rock n’ roll, some hand clapping gospel, boogie-woogie New Orleans, rockabilly, some down-in-the-alley blues, funk and a tasty mix of originals. You won’t hear stale tunes with this band. They keep it jumpin! The Amy Lou’s Blues Band puts on a great show, they are one helluva good time!

The Show

The driving force of the Amy Lou’s Blues band is their energy. It is non stop! They don’t play to the crowds, they play with them. Amy Lou knows how to work a crowd and reel them in. Once the music starts, anything goes and the music takes them there. She leads everybody into feeling good and can get the whole house to sing with her. When she asks for an “Amen”, she gets it! This band brings out the best in each other and together and they deliver unforgettable performances everywhere they play. All five band members sing lead and backup vocals, which lends them a truly diverse sound. The constant theme with this band is fun. Over again, the feedback they get from the crowd is, “Where do you get all that energy?” “I didn’t know blues could be so fun!” They rarely get serious. This band is only serious about having fun, makin great music and bringin it to the people.

Let the Good Times Roll

They have built a following over the San Francisco bay area with music lovers who appreciate being entertained and lively music. They perform at night clubs, bars, restaurants, festivals, private parties, on the radio; anywhere they can let it rip! They have opened for Tommy Castro, Little Charlie and the Night Cats, Rick Estrin and the New Nitecats, Ron Thompson, Shane Dwight, Sugar Pie DeSanto, Carol Fran, Macy Blackman and many more, earning their reputation as a great jump blues band that delivers. They released their first CD “Makin It Shake” last year and have another CD of all original music in the works.

If you are looking for something new and fresh to rock your house, give Amy Lou a call. They want to play for you! With the Amy Lou’s Blues band there’s good rockin tonight!
