"2019 Press Release"

AMY NELSON RELEASES NEW SINGLE WITH
CONNECTION TO THE BAND PERRY
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - May 14 2019 - Award-winning Saskatchewan singer/
songwriter/entertainer Amy Nelson is proud to announce the release of a new single to
Canadian country radio titled Hey Love on Friday May 17 2019. The single is currently
available everywhere digitally and is already at 25,000 plays on Spotify. The music
video will follow in summer 2019, along with performances at the Calgary Stampede,
Dauphin Countryfest, the Gympie Music Muster (QLD, Australia), and a 35+ radio
station tour covering the Canada’s East Coast, Ontario, and all prairie provinces. Hey
Love will be the first single from Nelson’s third studio album, Good Intentions, which is
now available through her website, iTunes, and at Boston Pizza locations across
Saskatchewan. Nelson has partnered with Boston Pizza to offer her album for $5.99,
and she is donating $1.00 from every album sold to summer music camps for local kids.

Hey Love was written by Jeff Cohen, a multi-award-winning songwriter/producer/
publisher based in Nashville/London whose songs have appeared on over 20 million
albums sold, over 10 million video games and over 100 placements in TV/Film. Nelson
had the good fortune to meet Cohen when she travelled to Nashville with producer Dan
Swinimer. Swinimer introduced her to Cohen and many other songwriters during one of
her many trips to Nashville. The connections she made on that trip were so valuable
that she had planned to stay for two weeks but decided to stay for two months.
Cohen wrote the song Hey Love several years ago and The Band Perry closed their
shows with it for many years. They kept the song on hold so no one else could record it,
though. So when they decided not to use it for their latest album, it became available
and Amy Nelson jumped on it. She recorded the song at Saskatchewan’s JUNOwinning
studio Bart McKay Productions. She also hired some of Canada’s most soughtafter
session performers including Chad Melchert, Murray Pulver, and Justin Kudding.

The single is sure to make waves at Canadian country radio…just as it did in Australia
when Nelson released it there in 2018.
Nelson is a former high school music teacher turned country singer who is paving her
own path by touring internationally. She already has a significant following in Australia
and a budding connection to the UK. She has released three singles down under with
her Australian record label Social Family Records, and two of them reached the Top 10.
Hey Love reached #6 on Australia's KIX Country Radio Network in 2018. Aussie
country fans can’t get enough of their “Canadian boomerang”, Amy Nelson, and they’ve
invited her back this August to the Gympie Music Muster festival. Nelson has a longstoried
connection with Australia, dating back to taking her first teaching job there after
graduating from the University of Regina with a Bachelor’s in Music Education.
At home or abroad, Nelson has her finger on the pulse of two other businesses she has
created and continues to operate. Through Sing Like A STAR over 1700 Saskatchewan
children have built confidence and gained musical skills through group and private
voice, piano, and ukulele classes. Export Entertainment is a company creating
international exchanges between artists in Canada and other countries. And for now,
Amy is happy to be at home to share her new music with Canadian fans.
“I love this song - it’s catchy and it works! When people listen to my album, even if
they’re not country fans, they love this song too.” - Amy Nelson

Country Music Artist Amy Nelson Paving Paths with Good Intentions

Canadian country music artist Amy Nelson is blazing trails at home and abroad. With her hometown of Regina, Saskatchewan, as a springboard, Amy has risen into the spotlight across Canada and Australia as a vibrant singer, songwriter, musician, and multi-enterprise businesswoman.

Good Intentions, her third album, is infused with Amy’s incandescent vocals, magnetic melodies, and feisty lyrics that echo her on-stage and off-stage personality. “Hey Love,” Amy’s first single from the album, released to Canadian country radio May 17 and is available for stream or download.

“Hey Love” opportunely came her way via multi-award-winning songwriter Jeff Cohen (who’s authored numerous hits for Sugarland, The Band Perry, Big & Rich, Laura Bell Bundy, Josh Groban, and more). The two met during one of Amy’s many trips to Nashville, and she fell head-over-Converses for his song “Hey Love.” Although The Band Perry had been closing their shows with the song for years, it had never been professionally recorded before. So, when the band decided not to use it for their last album, it became available and Amy jumped on it.

Amy recently released “Hey Love” and two more of her new singles to Australian country radio, two of which hit the Top 10. “Hey Love” climbed to #6 on Australian country music charts.

The new album also includes a bonus-track remake of “The Last Saskatchewan Pirate” featuring fellow Canadian country artist Brad Johner. The music video, starring guest “pirates” and former Saskatchewan Roughriders Bob Poley and Roger Aldag, made its debut on Mosaic Stadium’s massive SaskTel MaxTron during the team’s home playoff game in 2018.

Good Intentions is available on iTunes and at Boston Pizza locations across Saskatchewan. Amy’s donating $1 from every BP album sale to local summer music camps for kids. This out-of-the-box collaboration is one of many examples of how Amy forges unconventional paths in her music career.

“When I run across a jammed door, I just break out my toolbox and build a new door,” Amy says. And, when she establishes a new doorway, Amy is committed to holding it open for others to walk through.

Empowering the next generation of artists is a driving force for Amy, as seen through her former work as a high school music teacher and later as she opened her own singing school for kids. Since Amy launched Sing Like a STAR in 2011, this business she created and oversees has encouraged more than 1,700 Saskatchewan children to grow in confidence and follow their dreams.

Amy models this as she tenaciously travels the world in pursuit of her own musical ambitions. She’s entertained audiences in the United States, United Kingdom, Mexico, New Zealand, and Thailand. Yet, Amy reserves a special place in her heart for the country where she landed her very first teaching job: Australia. And, the feeling is mutual.

Last summer Amy made her main-stage debut at the Groundwater Country Music Festival, Australia’s fastest-growing country festival. Aussie country fans couldn’t get enough of this “Canadian boomerang,” so this summer she’ll take the stage again at Gympie Music Muster, one of the top country festivals down under.

This love of music and travel, along with her collaborative and entrepreneurial spirit, led Amy to create Export Entertainment, a company creating international exchanges between artists in Canada and other countries. Recent projects include bringing a Canadian band with her on tour in Australia and connecting top Australian country artists with musical opportunities in Canada. Exchanges in the United Kingdom, New Zealand, and United States are also in the works.

Her international efforts have been recognized back home in Canada. In April 2019 Amy was recognized from the floor of the Saskatchewan Legislative Assembly for her intercontinental musical successes. She also was included in a 2018 JUNO Awards video featuring FACTOR-funded Canadian artists who have gained popularity abroad.

Amy’s been working her way up through the Canadian music scene for years. She’s collected 40 Saskatchewan Country Music Award nominations with a 2018 win for Entertainer of the Year. While serving on the SaskMusic board of directors from 2011 to 2018, she was instrumental in advancing the province’s music industry.

Amy has performed at the Calgary Stampede, Canadian Music Week, Canadian Country Music Awards, AmericanaFest, BreakOut West, JunoFest and Australian Music Week. This fearless artist has more than just good intentions to go everywhere her big dreams lead her.
