Biography

Amy Pitt is a native of Sarnia Ontario. From the age of 9 Amy was intensely involved in music. She started in vocal, piano and violin lessons which didn't last longer than a couple of years, as she yearned for the stage and not the classroom.

Musical Theatre became Amy's passion. Eventually she starred in such musicals as Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat, The Mikado, and The King and I; quickly developing the "big fish in a small pond" syndrome. It was around this time that Amy yearned for a more creative freedom and turned to song-writing. She picked up an acoustic guitar and soon came an outpouring of sentiment and emotion. Amy now attends Humber College where she studies Commercial/Jazz music.

Amy has been inspired and influenced by a diverse group of artists (such as Sarah Mclachlan, Fleetwood Mac, Aretha Franklin, Ani Difranco) which has helped in moulding her own individual style.

"I never understand how people say they passionately love one style of music and turn around and hate another style with the same conviction" Amy confides. "I can find a song in any genre that makes my heart skip a beat. At the end of the day, that's why I think music is all about"

Amy commands attention with her powerful voice and fervent lyrics. She was compared to the "Queen of Soul" herself, Aretha Franklin in a performance last year by Brian Lillos, who also said "You blow me away with your voice, I still get goose-bumps when I recall your performance... It's hard to describe in words the emotion that music presents but you have it, you're the real thing." Known for her fearless stage presence and entrancing vocal style, Amy digs deep into her grief and desires to deliver a truly unforgettable performance.
