Ana Barajas is a Colombian singer songwriter now based in Austin, Texas. Her EP Marea Lunar was self-released in the fall of 2013. The artist with a background in metal has created a four track EP blending live percussion and electronic beats.

Singing in both English and Spanish on the opening song "Babel," Barajas sets the tone for an experimental EP. The song combines Latin percussion and folk vocalizations with pulsing electronic bass lines and turntablist cuts. The following "Morfeo se Duerme" combines experimental hip hop beats with electric guitars. "Bold Love" leads with vocals backed by a classical composition with strings for a haunting effect. Marea Lunar ends with the minimalist "Hilos" where Barajas combines electronic and live percussion as the sole music for most of the track. She shares production credits with Jesus Olarte and Rodolfo Caliz and in the music you can hear a blend of influences mentioned above. I am struck by how well seemingly disparate elements combine within each song.

Barajas wrote all of the songs inspired by her own personal emotional nighttime explorations and Spanish language poetry. She uses vivid imagery throughout her songwriting moving the listener through a world of dark and light. "Morfeo Se Duerme" and "Hilos" are my favorite songs on the Ep the former for it's combination of beats and electric guitar and the latter for it's minimalism. - Culture Remixed
