"New England band Analog Sunset records album at D.J.A."

Analog Sunset, an up-and-coming band from central Connecticut, recently recorded their debut EP at D.J.A.’s New Milford, CT, facility. A self-described “catchy blend of rock and pop,” the trio features D.J.A. family member Joseph Pietrocola on drums, Josh Forest on guitar/vocals, and Joe Martorelli on bass/vocals. All three members are alumni of the highly-recorded audio engineering program at the University of Hartford. The D.JA. warehouse provided a unique recording and practice space for the group, and we are proud to support them.

The debut EP, Yesterday, features four tracks and is available for streaming or purchase on iTunes, Spotify, and Bandcamp. Want to see them live? Catch Analog Sunset at venues across the Northeast in the coming months. - D.J.A. Imports

"Artist Spotlight: Analog Sunset"

Analog Sunset is a “catchy blend of rock and pop made exclusively for your ear holes” from Connecticut, MA. The band released their debut EP Yesterday earlier today.

Thank you for sitting down with us. Before we kick off the interview, please introduce yourself and your current guilty pleasure song
Josh Forest - Guitar/Vocals
Joe Martorelli - Bass/Vocals
Joe Pietrocola - Drums

Guilty pleasure song: the newest Bruno Mars album

How did you come up with your band name?
JM: I work in the audio visual industry, and before even thinking about forming a band I had received an email from my company at the end of last year discussing how all of our equipment would be switching from analog to digital at the beginning of 2014. They called it the “Analog Sunset”. A co-worker of mine and I thought “Analog Sunset” would make a pretty cool name for a band. So naturally when Josh and I decided to start a band it only seemed fitting to name it “Analog Sunset”

When people recommend music they often say, if you like so and so you should definitely check them out. What other artists have you been compared to as sounding like?
Long pause of silence….
JP: Someone compared us to the strokes once
JF: I know who our influences are but it’s really tough to say we sound like anyone
JP: I guess we will just have to let the listeners decide for themselves
JM: Maybe we’ll just let the bands that come after us say they sound like us haha

You’re going to release your debut EP “Yesterday” on April 15th, what inspired the EP name?
JF: the title came out of the lyrical content of track 3

Are there any particular musicians that inspired the sound we see present on your EP “Yesterday?” If so, who?
JF: weezer, silversun pickups, bombay bicycle club, incubus, the clippers..
JM: what he said
JP: what he said and coffee

Out of the 4 tracks present on the EP, which one resonates with you more and why?
JF: Yesterday
JP: Yeah, yesterday too. It really has it’s ups and downs as a dynamic song and that kind of thing is fun to play for me
JM: Yes, the lyrics in that song seem to connect well with a variety of people and do the same for me

What’s one lyric on the EP that you believe fans can relate to?
JM: As I stated before, I think the lyrics in yesterday can be related to many things. Sometimes things happen to you in your life and they hurt so bad that it takes a long time to really get past it. This song addresses those struggles. At times the pain can feel like it’s as fresh as yesterday even though what caused the pain may have happened a long time ago. The end of the song reminds us that no matter what is hurting us it will soon pass and we become better individuals for the experience of that pain in the first place.
JP: Yeah thats Legit

The song has 4 tracks which are “a catchy blend of Rock and Pop,” what do you want fans to take away from your music?
JM: Hopefully a second listen
JF: hopefully the songs just make people feel something and make them come back for more

For fans hearing your music for the first time and long time fans, what do you want them to take away from your music?
JM: new listeners are always welcome

As a musician, what do you hope to achieve with your music? What’s your goal?
JF: honestly, we are just making music because it’s what we like to do and it’s a lot of fun. If someone can get something out of what we make then that’s a bonus

From a musician standpoint, going into your debut record release, what does music mean to you? What do you believe it’s purpose is?
JM: to make the listener feel a certain something or bring them to a place that they want to be at that particular time.
JP: a sincere form of art that can put you in any state of mind or place.

You formed earlier this year, about 2 months ago to be more precise. Where do you see yourselves at the end of the year?
JP: In this band with our full length album out, playing a good amount of live shows

Before we end the interview, is there anything you’d like to say to your viewers and our fans?
JM: yes, we want everyone to know we’ve got big plans for a full length album to release before the end of the year
JF: yeah thats already in the works
JP: thanks for anyone checking us out

Joe Martorelli (bass, vocals), Josh Forest (guitar, vocals), Joe Pietrocola (drums).

being the ever-present subject matter from song to song, this determined
trio of accomplished musicians are sure to leave any listener with
something that hits close to home.

Their debut EP "Yesterday" was released in April of 2014.  A full-length is in the works to follow later this year.
