Bio

Anamer Castrello, a native of Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, stands out as one of the most impressive and versatile artists and singers in the Washington, DC area. She began her career at a young age as a background vocalist in the pop world, collaborating with international Latin American artists and recording duets with Cheo Feliciano and Marco Antonio Muñiz. Subsequently, she studied opera. Her awards include a Wammie as Best Latino Female Vocalist from The Washington Area Music Awards, the 1997 Operatic Singing Artist of the Year Award from the Institute of Puerto Rico in New York, and an award at the Gulf Coast Regional Auditions for the Metropolitan Opera. In the Washington, DC, area, she has appeared at the In Series, GALA, the Mexican Cultural Institute, Millennium Stage of the Kennedy Center, various museums of the Smithsonian Institution, singing various roles in operas and zarzuelas and performing in cabarets and revues.

Recently, Castrello toured regionally and throughout the United States with her productions of Soul of Latin America and Sabor y vida/Essence and Life directed by Abel Lopez. She also toured from 2000-2003 with the Washington Ballet as vocal soloist in Juanita and Alicia, choreographed by Artistic Director Septime Webre, and with the Latin Jazz ensemble Sin Miedo conducted by Didier Prossaird.

Anamer holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Humanities with a minor in Piano from the University of Puerto Rico. She also received a Masters degree in Music Education for Colleges and Universities from New York University and a Masters degree in Opera Performance from the University of Maryland at College Park. She teaches voice in Riverdale, Maryland and is part of a vocal sextet of diverse women called VENUS.

Anamer Castrello, natural de Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, se distingue como una de las artistas más impresionantes y versátiles en el área de Washington, DC. Ella comenzó su carrera bien jovencita como una coralista en el mundo popular colaborando con famosos artistas internacionales Latinoamericanos y grabó dúos con Cheo Feliciano y Marco Antonio Muñiz. Luego estudió Opera. Sus premios incluyen el “Wammie” como Mejor Cantante Femenina Latina del “Washington Area Music Awards”, el premio del 1997 Artista y Cantante Operática del Año del Instituto de Puerto Rico en New York, y segundo premio en las Audiciones de la Región de la Costa del Golfo del Metropolitan Opera. En el área de Washington DC, Anamer ha participado con el In Series, GALA, el Instituto Cultural Mexicano, el Millennium Stage del Kennedy Center y varios museos del Smithsonian, cantando roles en óperas, zarzuelas y actuando en cabarets y revistas musicales.

Con los shows Soul of Latin America y Sabor y vida/Essence and Life Anamer se ha estado presentando por varios estados de los Estados Unidos dirigida por Abel López. En el período 2000-2003 participó con el Washington Ballet como cantante solista para la obra Juanita y Alicia, coreografiada por el Director Artístico Septime Webre, y acompañada por el grupo de Jazz Latino Sin Miedo dirigido por Didier Prossaird.

Anamer posee una Licenciatura en Artes de la Facultad de Humanidades con especialización en Piano de la Universidad de Puerto Rico. Posee además una Maestría en Educación Musical para Universidades y Colegios de la Universidad de Nueva York (NYU) y otra Maestría en Opera de la Universidad de Maryland en College Park. Anamer enseña canto en Riverdale, Maryland, y es parte del sexteto vocal femenino VENUS.
