AñaVañA (pronounced onya-vonya) is a Rock / Reggae band from New York City.
The group is currently working on their second record for Zip Records, which is scheduled for release in the Spring of 2005.
The band consists of Annastasia Victory Kuporosova (singer / songwriter / pianist), Ian C. Bouras (songwriter / guitarist), Dan Paccione (bass) and Ed Wiehe (drums)
Annastasia and Ian are the originators of AñaVañA and their music has evolved into a unique style of Rock / Reggae evident on their debut record. Their dedicated fans can enjoy groovy danceable beats with hypnotizing vocal melodies.
As the main songwrites for AñaVañA, Annastasia and Ian were nominated among the top Billboard Songwriters of 2003 and 2004 for their work. Their songs have also been included in the top 18 finalists in the 2002 Windrift International Songwriting Competition, and won a spot on the Windrift 2002 compilation CD.
More recently, album track Colors Fading placed in the top 5 for the Song of the Year Competition as well as second place in the Compo 10 competition. The track Taken Away placed second in the Song of the Month competition in February.
They have also written music for commercials, video companies and have had their music placed in independent films.
AñaVañA have performed around the world, headlining their own shows and playing festivals. They have also performed on and given interviews with international radio and television stations.
With their unique mix of musical styles, songwriting and musicianship AñaVañA separates themselves from the rest of the crowd.
